Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

why didnt the prophets just teleport when they discovered flood have landed on high charity. remember how regret could teleport when you battle him with chief in the temple ruins on delta halo. 'to finish our lords noble work... and this time, none of you will survive'

My best contention would be that he was simply caught off guard, figurative storyline aside. As you know, Truth and Mercy were already preparing to vacate the premise of Mercy's death prior to his passing.

Thinking that they already had a safe escape, (that escape method being the phantoms,) and their mighty brutes to protect them, (which Truth had lead Mercy to believing that Mercy and himself were invincible due to Tartarus's guard,) the prophet of Mercy would have been assured, or at least felt as though he had sufficient bulwark to protect them, even when their foes are so close. After all, they are prophets of the Gods, are they not?

That is my take on it anyways. Mercy could have a bad reaction time though, too. Who knows if he could have prevented it physically or not. There is simply not enough empirical data to make a noteworthy conjecture on the matter.

I thought that was associated with their gravity belts. Since he was a high prophet, he probably didn't have one.

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

Yet, didn't Regret tap into the Forerunner Teleportation Grid running throughout Installation 05? I'd imagine that with only the Dreadnought as the nearest massive Forerunner structure, no prophet (EDIT: on High Charity) would have access to the Grid.

yeah i suppose he could of had a bad reaction time. as for them being regarded as prophets of the Gods. thats what they think they are but worms of treachery, is what they truly are

i thought mercy truth and regret where of the same rank and had equal abilities, authority...

or maybe it was just something bungie didn't think of while making the story: he simply could of teleported but bungie oversaw it, either way i still liked all parts of HALO 2's story (even the cliffhanger ending which was met with disgust by about half of the HALO fans i know)
