What was his rank before he was given the MoS and given the title of Arbiter?

EDIT: Yeah I know he was Supreme Commander. I want to know what he was even before that.

Supreme Commander?

Yeah, at least it says so in Halo: A Graphic Novel, but in Halo 2 he has the gold armor, which can be a range of alot of different ranks, and in the graphic novel, he was shown to have purple armor with a cloak, signifying Supreme Commander.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

He was Supreme Commander of the Fleet of Particular Justice.

What is the MoS?
It's an Earth acronym referring to one's Military Operational Specialty.

Additionally, for confirmation, Thel Vadamee was the Supreme Commander of the Fleet of Particular Justice, as said above.

He would have been a Zealot, and he still was whilst commanding the Fleet of Particular Justice. Pretty much every high ranking Elites we've seen (Ship Masters, Flee Masters, etc.) are most often Zealots.

The purple cloak & armor is ceremonial, or that's what we can at least speculate. The other Supreme Commander's we've seen (Luro), also dawn the gold Zealot armor. In short, Supreme Commanders also wear the Zealot Fleet Master golden armor.
