Good Quad Core processor (i5, i7 or if you want a budget, then core 2 quad) with a good CPU cooler.
at leat 4GB DDR3 ram
1 TB hard drive
A graphics card with at least 1GB VRAM. Recommend no lower than a GTX 560 if you're going for the most recent nvidia models, not sure what it is for the ATI one's at the moment.

My computer specs, and runs Halo 2 Vista nice and smooth.

RAM is DDR2, 3GB of it. Machine from 2008, bought new graphics card last december, was nvidia 9800GT 512MB (GDDR3) in it prior, bought the 5770 1GB (GDDR5) and still runs as smooth.

I don't think the problems with H2V entirely stem from computer hardware. I honestly think the problems with H2V are with the game itself.

Simply put: if you meet the system requirements you should be able to run the game fine. Sadly that's doesn't seem to be the case with H2V.

Keep in mind he said desktop PC and did not specify whether it was for H2V specifically or for gaming in general, i tried to suggest what i thought was the standard PC spec's people would use. I agree with you on the DDR2, i use it in my current build, but i am looking to go for an i7 at some point so of course that will have to change ;).

Yeah the 9800GT is a nice card :), i just assumed 1GB was the usual for graphics cards these days :)

Haha, yeah, 1Gb is the norm today I'm sure. I made a mistake in my post, I bought the Radeon HD 5770 1GB in December, the 9800GT is what I had in it already, from 2008.
