Subject: Could anyone run a private server for me?

I wish they would allow signatures at the end of someones post... Would be fun.

I am in need of someone who could run a server efficiently with 4 players. It would only be for a few minutes. Me and a few of my friends are going to be making a video, but none of us can run a server. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
ChasePin.

Forward your ports. Nobody will host a dedicated server just for you.

I have no idea what "forwarding your ports" means. Plus, you make it sound like I am being a inconsiderate jerk. Its not like I want the server to myself. I only need someone who already does or can for like, 5 minutes.

I could do it. Just tell me when and I could set up a private server and PM the password to you.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

It's like people have never even heard of Google before.

Never allow freedom to miss guide you.

Woah Dusk calm down. Not everyone uses Google for their answers. Sometimes its better to get an answer off someone instead of asking a search engine. I've Googled many things before and all its came back with is a load of crap.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

I like Metacrawler, but I'm oldskool like that.

Something smells fishy...

You could set up a Halo dedicated server yourself using Haloded.exe.

Calm down? You're acting like he came here freaking out. He just was supplying his own input. if you had looked up port forwarding, you would have found plenty of helpful guides.

But I'm not freaking out. I said nothing to imply that I am freaking out, and it took me about fifteen seconds to write that. YOU have to stop telling people to calm down who are calm.

Why go through the trouble of making a dedi? Just create a peer hosted.

If you setup a peer to peer network the people you'd want to play with would have to be in pretty close proximity to connect to it. Like in the same room.

Setting up a dedicated server is a good way to play with others or your friends if they're not in close proximity.

Plus it's not too difficult to setup a dedicated servery anyway.

That would all be well and good, BB, but I don't think he's looking to actually play a match. If he's looking to just shoot some machinima-style video, a peer-hosted game is fine.

Yeah, it is for a machinima video. I cannot believe how much this angered people, just asking for some help. Thank god there are SOME reasonable people here still. :)
