"If something is easy, broken, cheap or can be abused, majority of the population will support it as a legit and or skilled concept/idea. Whatever people like and or love, they will thrive on it because no matter how broken it maybe, they do not like change."

Now, I know we all have differing viewpoints, but this paragraph I found today(credit goes to Pvt Caboose for linking it) http://fudzilla.com/games/item/23411-microsoft-admits-losing-i ts-way-with-halo
After looking up the guy, it seems this isn't a one-time fake article, this guy honestly views halo as being master chief centered and that's what fans care and love for. "An overpowering cool character who's the John Wayne of the halo universe"(Don't get the reference, could somebody explain the John wayne bit?)
I mean, I'm all for expanding the Chief's character and finishing his story, but treating the heroes of Reach and ODST as "random side characters who don't matter."(least that's how it sounded to me) Just makes me think the likelyhood of halo doing downhill quickly skyrocketed...
Reach is one thing but O.D.S.T. is a more far driven away story than Reach simply because is has very very little to do with Spartans period more so Master Chief.
The other thing is, Master Chief is iconic and yeah O.D.S.T. is cool don't get me wrong but the fact that the Campaign was semi short and Lagfight wasn't a great way to introduce multiplayer, it was a shorthanded project that Bungie did not spend a whole lot of time on. I think this is one of the reasons why a lot of people don't think it was as appealing as the trilogy.
