Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

I think a blog feature would be well suited to Bungie.net. As this place is in it's current state we don't really get to learn about our other members too much. If B.net had a blog type feature it would allow people to share as little or as much detail about themselves as they want.

One problem that I did come across with this idea is how are people going to keep track of their favorite "bloggers". Well that's where one of the features that everyone keeps suggesting comes in, A 'like' feature or some sort of option to follow. This could also tie in with another feature people have suggested notifications. Notifications would make it easier to know when one of your favorite members has made a new blog.

The second problem that I thought of with this is, how do blogs get moderated. Well the solution is quite simple just like with threads and posts have a report button. Alternatively only members who have not been banned for 1 year can blog. Giving people the incentive to not break the rules both by blogging and on the forums.

I do not expect this to be implemented, I just think it would a nice feature to have on here. I also am aware that Bungie.net is not a social networking site, so no need to point that out.

Sounds incredibly social for a gaming website...

Private groups and PM suffice, at least for me.

Let's be able to post images in our sigs while we're at it. 800x600 minimum. I don't expect it get implemented, just a cool nifty feature I thought would be great.

I thought about that but forums (which private groups are) just don't feel the same as blogs.

There is a script you can download that allows you to see pictures and YouTube videos that users link in their posts if your interested.

Is it in the script thread? I was joking when I made that first post, but I might try this out...

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

If it isn't, I know it is in the Coup group. Iggy was the one who came up with it, I believe... Quite a scandal when it happened...

That is exactly what I'm referring to. Did Iggy ever put it inside the script thread? Or is it only in the Coup D Bungie forum?

Oh right...that whole brouhaha. I don't follow the whole "omg make ur b.net experience kooler with scripts!" scene, so I barely remember that...

I'm just going to pint out that you are currently off-topic and discussion about scripts belongs in the pinned topic or PM's.

Definitely a very cool idea to keep members visiting the site. Maybe something akin to the blogs you can post on mlgpro.com (not sure if that feature is still there though)?

An interesting idea, could be a bungie game oriented blog, with features like posting game stats and screenshots and stuff.

A lot of members have links to their blogs in their sigs.
I don't see why we need to implement a blog service here.

I would say I am one of the most successful trolls in Bungie.net history.

I think private groups are the way to go if you care to learn about other members or want others to hear your stories.

What better place to write about Halo or [insert Bungie's next IP here] than on the official site dedicated to it? Plus, I'm sure the webteam could integrate some nifty features so you're able to somehow "tie-in" the blog with the game or game content.

Also, if Aerospace allows us to play games, I think being able to post blogs (reviews) about them would be incredibly useful to the developers and people wanting to know more about them. Bungie.net seems like the most ideal place for that to happen.

I'm going to be honest, I never read anyone's blogs. Ever. It's always been kind of a useless feature to me, especially when the website's administration starts forcing users to use them rather than posting viable information on the forums for everyone to see.

People wouldn't need to go to another site to view someone's blog if it was on here.

I don't think Achronos or anyone else would ever "force" you to use them, but do note that blogging on the forums will typically fall under it being a non-discussable topic (ie. new threads should encourage a discussion among the community; please be mindful of that when you create threads), so giving users the outlet to blog about stuff (especially Bungie-related) on the site seems like a good way to keep people hanging around here.

If bungie made a way to have personal blogs then people like me would definatly hang around more for the news on some game or test session for the next game.

This would also be a great way to let game creators for the Aerospace projects to be known so that people could get support for the game.
