#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

Did the ship Spirit of Fire ever return to UNSC controlled space? If so, when? (apparently it could of taken decades to return, without their slipspace drive)

Nope, they haven't sailed back yet.

Some people here believe this theory they the SoF returned, by the entire crew was locked up and the ship destroyed/dismantled by ONI for some reason.

Interesting tidbit I found.

The UNSC Red Horse was a Prowler present in October 2552 to survey the debris field of the destroyed Installation 04. It arrived in-system some time after the Covenant base High Charity had departed for Installation 05. It was captained by Tobias Foucault.

Which means it happened after the battle for Earth started, aka AFTER Chief had made his report about the flood.

That's because Regret didn't transmit the location for Delta halo until early in the battle at Earth/when he arrived. So basing it off of ONI possibly knowing about the flood and thus Spirit of Fire must've been found in 30 years regardless of the sheer vastness of space doesn't seem to hold up as much <_<.

you do understand what date the red horse got there is irrelevant because the mona lisa had already been there before.

I say it had to be there for atleast a weak or two And this is excluding the slipspace journey it took to get in soell to begin with. There is no way there are going to have even a fraction understanding of the flood within hours or a few days.

The red horse getter there when chief is at earth fuels the point the mona lisa was there far longer.

We don't know where the SoF was, and we are jumping the gun and saying some series of events happened for it to be found

  • 07.14.2011 6:12 AM PDT

If the Mona Lisa was there before then, it would've been picked up and destroyed by the defense fleet of High Charity. The description I remember of the defenses was "If you enter the system and don't transmit the right codes within seconds, you get destroyed." and a freighter/prison ship wouldn't be able to avoid detection for that long.

Maybe the Spirit of Fire, but the whole "The ship's massive crew and marine compliment is detained/imprisoned/killed and ship scrapped" Doesn't make sense, especially since every UNSC personnel was needed. IMO, it paints ONI as this evil group who doesn't give a damn about humanity. Which is false...

And even if they found it, why wouldn't they simply order everybody to keep silent and let them loose/or kept them under watch? Cause they you get benefits. A: Morale boost due to the Spirit of Fire returning. B: If somebody was infected, they could easily spool it off as an unknown bio-weapon the Covenant may be using. That is if an infected person got out.

I mean, it's an interesting theory but it has major gaps.

Edit: Okay, how about this line I also found?

When it arrived at the wreckage of Installation 04 in Soell System weeks after the Battle of Installation 04, On http://www.halopedian.com/Mona_Lisa Weeks after the end of the battle would equal October.

If i remember right from what we know of high charity didn't get there until the events of halo 2 unless i am forgetting something.

And that "weeks after the battle" doesn't have a source nor do i remember that being stated. so you are going to have to give me a page number because that means i missed an entire page of something i read twice now.

I'm doing just as much speculating as you are, only without ONI doing something drastically stupid.

Again, why would ONI imprison forever/kill off the crew and marines (Including THREE Spartans no less) of the massive Spirit of Fire?

Why would they pass up on the MASSIVE morale boost opportunity it'd give? We know during the war ONI did it's damn best to keep morale high. Labeling the ship "lost with all hands" and never talking about it reduces that.

Edit: the timeline lists Thel's trial as the same date of Master Chief being on the Cairo. Again, how would the Mona Lisa have NOT been destroyed by the High Charity defense fleet?

this has happened all the time in wars, 1 ship being missing is not going to have any affect on the war whatsoever especially a refitted colony ship.

The mona lisa was there before high charity as i said before, i am aware of all the dates which is why "weeks after" doesn't make sense because that is halo 2.

Although I dont think Oni would allow battle hardened soldiers to be just put in jail, it wouldn't be much of a morale boost if soldiers learned that the covenant had a bio weapon or if a new enemy in the war. I personally think that the spirit of fire would be put in Halo 4 as a way of getting weapons and equipment.

  • 07.14.2011 6:56 AM PDT

Even if it was there, How did it escape detection by the massive covenant fleet just outside the larger debris pieces?

And yes, ships go missing, but ONI would've had the chance, especially using partly censored versions of the events "Oh, the SoF was missing, but that's because they sacrificed their FTL drive to prevent the Covenant from getting a major advantage in the war, setting back their advanced greatly!"

Instead we get theories of the crew being murdered, or imprisoned (Might I ask how that'd make sense. "Oh, we are going to toss you in a jail cell instead of... I don't know, letting you fight the Covenant because we need every solder we have.") That's forgetting about the three Spartans on board as well, what about them?

I'll accept the theory more readily when that bit is explained. ONI isn't stupid or evil.

Edit: Jason, that's my point about it.

The theory falls apart completely when they suggest ONI killed or imprison permanently the SoF crew and marines. I put the bio-weapon thing in the small chance somebody was infected.

Heh, another amusing thing. Halsey would've know something is up when Alice, Douglas, and Jerome (the three MIA Spartans on the Spirit of Fire) suddenly show up but the ship is lost with all hands.

Like halsey knows what is up with black or grey team, she didn't know about kurt or jorge ether.

They could be the unnamed RED spartans from the novel which fits perfectly.

She knew about grey team being too far away to be recalled. She knew that Kurt was MIA.

She'd had to be retarded to get Alice Douglas and Jerome back and not question it.
