Subject: Understanding the holotank on LNoS

As most of you may have noticed during the campaign level Long Night of Solace, during the assault of the bridge on the corvette Ardent Prayer, there is a holotank of the planet Reach with markings to signify what I believe are locations of covenant drop ships, corvettes and the SC, places of importance to the covenant and their goals and also of UNSC Navy ships and ODPs in orbit.

A Fuller understanding of this holotank may give us a bigger picture with what happened during the early days of the battle and bring closure to some canon problems that many of you have with Halo:Reach, so if any body has any further insight into this, anything is welcome.

So far we have these details:

Super Carrie's location along with the corvette Ardent Prayer

Possible ODP formation

The Viery territory with points of interests at Visagrad, Sword base and 3 other locations

First off, the Covenant have marked points on the planet that are of interest to Halsey's digging operations. The yellow squares with the red dots are strewn all over the map of Reach, and happen to be placed in the same spots Halsey marks on her dig site map. Particularly Sword Base, Visegrad, and Castle Base stand out on the map. That's the only true established fact so far in regards to the Hologram.

I theorize that the location of the SC is indicated by the two red squares (when viewed at an angle they form what looks like a star) surrounding a yellow dot. I figure it's likely to be the SC because of all the Corvette markers spread out over the map it is the only one located over land in the proximity of a unique symbol on the hologram.

Many others have theorized that the plain yellow dots represent UNSC forces. Of what make, model, if it's a platform or a ship is completely unknown.

And that's pretty much where things are at in terms of understanding the map at this moment.

I do also believe that the yellow dots are UNSC forces, specifically orbital defenses.

Around the dot that is the SC there is a massive lack of yellow dots, meaning that the UNSC may have been specifically avoiding it.

Also, on the opposite side of the map from the Viery territory which is the location of Sword base, castle base, Frakas lakes, and Visagrad, their seems to be a number of raised yellow dots which I believe are ODPs and support craft as it fits the description of them in the book quite well, and it also appears that they are all out of range of the SC, unless they can shoot through Reach.

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.

You can actually see the symbol for the Corvettes. They are the same shape of course as the Corvette. I would have to go back and count but I believe that there are about 3.
Also the UNSC had less than 100 ships stationed at Reach. So if you can find about 70 dots or so that is possibly the local fleet.
BUT! The Battle of Tribute was also taking place in the same Solar System. So the local fleet could have split up. BTW the escort fleet on Tribute was almost entirely destroyed, suggesting that possibly 10% left.

And the Spirits are shaped like Spirits! Who would've guessed...

I looked at the holotank, and there's close to 100 yellow dots. This could very well be the local fleet.

But the main fleet didn't arrive until After the ship was destroyed. The scout fleet only consisted of a few ships.

Could be positions on to where the Fleet WILL be when they arrive.

Now it might not be UNSC forces at all. I'm sure that if it was, the ships would have been marked red.
Also remember, the battle of Tribute was going on the same time, and there were ships there too.

We should know better, because we are better.

120 dots and change, 4 corvettes, not counting the one destroyed over Sword Base or you hijacked, and 3 Spirit attack forces.

I still think the yellow dots are UNSC forces as they don't have to be red to be an enemy and all other covenant forces have a more specified symbol for it like spirits for spirits and corvettes for corvettes.

If they are the UNSC forces, then not many where destroyed during the time between the SC exposing itself and OPERATION:UPPERCUT.
