Madara, Tobi....call me whatever you want. I'M NO ONE. I DON'T WANT TO BE ANYONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS COMPLETING THE MOON'S EYE PLAN."

I know this doesn't seem very relevant, but listen closely to the halo chant when the halo 4 logo appears @ 1:19. Compare to the old chants from all the previous games, this one sounds much different.

It sounds much darker and ominous, and it has some instruments in it, where as the old one was pure vocals. Perhaps it's hinting at the new villain being much more evil than anything we have seen so far.

My opinion is that it is hyping up the timeless one, who will probably be the central villain for the new trilogy

I don't think you can get much evil-er than attempting to wipe out a whole race, then trying to kill all life in a galaxy. And also consume all life in the galaxy and turn it into shambling puppets.

I like the Timeless One theory though, carry on.

Well I remember the official description for halo 4 says there will be an ancient evil (IMO precursors) that threatens the fate of the entire universe. If it threatens the entire universe than it's going to be pretty evil. Expect deaths. Perhaps with a side of genocide. Evil people do that kind of stuff.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I hope it is darker. I love Halo 3, but it got annoying when Grunts spilled out all these cheesy jokes. I know Bungie likes humor, but it just doesn't seem to fit. So, I think it'll bring out more emotion if it's darker.

I expect a really cool solitary atmosphere around it, much like in ODST.

yes, for some reason after reading cryptum, i cant get enough of the timeless one, its like he is what we halo fans have all been subconsciously waiting for these long years.

I love the hype they gave him in the book, the didact; the huge massive forerunner promethean commander referred to the timeless one as a true monster.
The confirmer, another promethean was scared blam-less when the didact informed him that the timeless one was missing.

The fact that he was been sitting there deep in a planet with precursor shackles for who knows how long, hundreds of thousands, hundreds of millions of years even.

And now the prospect that he escaped, and appears to have been the real reason why a contender class-AI, mendicant bias went rampant, and not the gravemind. As well as the stunning revelation that the precursor may have created the flood as revenge against the forerunner and that the gravemind is his pet.

This all adds up to one simple calculation, if you add everything up about the precursor, then the final answer is that his power level is well above 3 trillion.

And of course his cryptic message sends chills down my spine.

"We meet again, young one. I am the last of those who gave you breath and shape and form, millions of years ago. I am the last of those your kind rose up against and ruthlessly destroyed. I am the last Precursor. And our answer is at hand."

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

I agree with you all,i expect the Timeless One as the main villians alongside the Flood and maybe something else...

"I'm afraid of the man I'll become if I lay my life down for the people I don't even care for"

I have just started reading cryptum. Why would a precursor be such a hostile creature? I thought they were ultra advanced, even more than the forerunners, not violent savages....

Do you guys have a non-spoiler answer? Or should I read more?

I will spend more time in Halo Reach and set off on a mission to find all the easter eggs in the game. [Which probably won't happen :( ] I will try anyway and someday succeed.

I didn't realize that before when i saw the trailer but your right on not hearing any vocals.

A long time ago, I was a living, breathing human being. I went mad. I served my enemies. They became my only friends.

well... apart from the kill everything part, the flood are the perfect species - no hunger, crime, disease, war, every organism inside the collective works to the advancement of the flood.

the single problem with it is that its goal is to bring all organic life into its fold- by killing it.

ahh yes, i am well aware of the new novel, and quite frankly i can't wait that long to read it. Cryptum was great, mainly because it forced to change what we thought we knew about the forerunner and everything, they are not as benevolent as we once thought.

And the ancient humans really made my day, it was pretty cool finding out that those ruins on heian in the babysitter belonged to tier level 1 ancient humans. Humans that in some ways surpassed the forerunner, by cracking neural physics, which the didact said the foreunner were not able to do, and they figured out the flood's weakness and actually defeated the flood without all that halo non-sense.

It's Hazard Time

IT reminds me of ODST, the dark gritty theme "all is lost but I'll keep on going anyhow". If the game fits the theme, then real gamers all over the world are in for a treat, casuals not so much :D
