I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.

Over the years several S-IIs have been introduced that makes the number of S-IIs to survive the augmentations grow larger (of course this could just be simple ret-con.)

In the original print of The Fall of Reach, 33 survived, 12 were crippled, and 30 were dead.
Over time though, that 33 has received an additional 23 Spartans, making it 56.
In Halsey's Journal, she states it is possible that some of the Spartans that died during augmentation could be revived and "fixed." The same applies for the washouts like Fhajad.
I don't have Halsey's Journal on me right now but if anybody could figure out when she possibly stated that (like between 2545-2551), it would help.

Several of these "new" Spartans have been in the universe for quite some time. 11 Beta Red, 3 Delta Red, and 3 who died when they jumped out of the Pelican. We have no idea who these Spartans are. Beta Red has a side story in Reach (radio conversations) but no actual names are given. Red-15 could be Spartan-015.

Anyway, could it be possible that Spartans like Jorge, Solomon, and Team Black are all washouts or the ones who died and were later revived?
If this is true, then 7 Spartans are still dead or crippled, possibly beyond repair.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

for the love of god.

the effin bloodlines comic give the full backstory of black team which i am not even going to explain to you because there is no point.

Jorge was pulled out like Kurt.

The un-named spartans from FS have always been there and some of us think it could be red team from halowars

and the ones in reach are probably SIIIs

didn't you make a thread just like this like 2 months ago?

I don't think you understand.
33 Spartans survived. In the end, that number jumped to 56.
Yes I know Grey and Black survived, but what about others. Mainly the unnamed.
Calm down.

The red team that was deployed on Reach was not comprised of any "new" Spartans what so ever.

Why?

Simple.

Because the rehabilitated and revived S-IIs were rehabilitated unbeknownst to the rest of the S-IIs that survived the initial augmentation wave. Halsey confirms that in the journal when she remarks about how she lied to the Spartans at the Red Flag briefing that there were far more active SIIs they were not aware about.

So you can cross off Solomon and Arthur off the bat for the simple fact he was already operating with John and the others so they weren't "new".

it's alright.
Ok, if these Unnamed surviving Spartans are not some of the washouts, then does this simply decrease the number of Spartans that died, or does it increase the total number of S-II candidates to 98?

  • 07.14.2011 8:29 PM PDT

Washouts were assigned other duties such as intelligence. I know you read that. Otherwise I doubt they'd try and fix them, the damage was done and they wouldn't really be worth the effort to fix since they wouldn't be at optimum capability.

Are you still referring to the unnamed Spartans who were part of the 25 Spartans at the Red Flag briefing, and later under Fred's Red team? Because so far the way your wording things makes it seem like you're saying that Beta Red is a completely separate entity from Fred's Red team when it isn't.
