since bungie left and 343 took over it seems more orientated to getting money now. I mean just look at the lego...

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

To me, Halo has seemed like a money maker since the the moment I beat Halo 2. "Sir, finishing this fight" or whatever, proving that they were already planning on a Halo 3 in the development stages of Halo 2, where as Combat Evolved was (or at least felt) more like its own unique thing that was made just to be what it is without profit being such a serious factor.

Kinda like how Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl is agreed by most to be the best of the series, and it too was made without a sequel in mind, and what do you know; the end of the second film is a cliffhanger, just like the end of Halo 2.

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

Oh hai there. Halo toys, in one form or another, are nothing new either.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

Halo was always a money making exercise. Don't go thinking that monetisation of additional revenue streams makes the original one any less money orientated in nature.

Halo 2 was meant to end before getting to Rat's Nest... It was cut to bits due to there wasn't enough development time on the demo that was never a part of the actual game. They also had to cut down environments and enemies due to they being to much for some of the xboxs without dev kits...

Halo CE was obviously going to have a sequel.

Cortana: "It's Finished."
Chief: "No. I think we are just getting started."

I like Reach. Watcha gonna do?

If there's a demand for something, then that demand is going to be met. Every game franchise ever is designed to make money, every form of entertainment is designed, aside from the obvious purpose of entertaining people, TO MAKE MONEY.

Although Halo 3 wasn't planned from the beginning Halo 2 was the part where the series started being a money maker, but hey, if so many people brought Halo CE and wanted more, why not give them more? If people want to buy toys and limited editions and whathaveyou, why not give it to them? I mean, they're the ones that want them. You don't have to buy it, supply and demand and whathaveyou.

Anyway apparently the trilogy was supposed to end at Halo 2, but because of the time left in developement and the amount they could get done, etc. Then Halo 2 became Halo 2 and 3.

LOL. Did you just get here? It's been like that since Halo 2, MC is the Mario of Xbox, what do you expect?

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

MEGA Blocks, not LEGO.

Yes, I have noticed lots of halo toys at Target.

Really? I didn't know this series was supposed to make money :P. In all seriousness, ultimately people make games, make movies, write books, make musis to make money. You got to have money to live, but yes Bungie loves what there doing.

They first want to make the community happy, but they also know they won't have a problem selling their games.

Making money, and making people happy is joyous thing :)

when are games not supposed to make money?

  • 07.15.2011 6:24 AM PDT

It's been a money machine for a long time. It's not new and it's not bad either.

Every game is a "money maker" some developers just try to milk it more than others, 343 doesn't have the rights to Halo yet anyways.
