i mean, what are people thinking when they write all that stuff? they could just say "dont copy this our we'll sue" or "dont do illegal stuff" but they gotta right this whole page on it. i mean, when you join a forum, do you really read that huge box of words? do you just click the i agree box, disregarding everything the box says? maybe the box says "if you talk we'll send your information to proper authority" but you wont read it.

software agreements? pfft, even longer. they could summarize it all up into "dont copy this or do any illegal stuff with it and what not". pages of work is gone into wording these agreements with highly technical words just to make it longer and make it seem like they are ubb0r imporrtants.

so, does ANYONE read any type of software/sign-up agreements? it takes 2 seconds outa my time to click a box and hit submit..

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Apparently not. Most people still think they have free speech on B.net.

Bungie.net is a private site. Which means they decide which rites you have. You agree to that when you sign up. Most people don't read that though.

They have to put it in so people don't exploit there software for personal gain. If they do, the company assume every one has read that (even though they haven't) and sue his butt off.
If you ever do read one, you'll realize theres not much you can do with it other than install it and use it.

so whats stopping them from saying "if you do anything else besides install and use this, we're gonna sue you"?

if i ever worked for a software company, i guess id relize why..im not really into the "agreement" and "terms" kinda stuff..

ok, private site, i get it..from now on if people say they have freedom of speech even though they are spamming and being idiots..ill remeber that...thanks.

Heh, because "Install this and use it or we'll sue you" is actually quite broad. All that legal-ese in those things makes sure that you never ever do anything but that. I'm sure they hire some lawyer to make that mumbo jumbo up.
Thought it doesn't deter some people.
