Literally moments ago i had an idea:

Existing System
For chapter news/articles/custom columns etc they are currently set to date order (latest dated submission at the top).

Analysis
What if you didn't want this though? What if you wanted to have your articles or news stories etc in the order you see fit?

Proposed system/feature
We are left with a choice in group settings (or local resource general settings i.e. a section in "news stories" to toggle this proposed feature) to either have the resources in date order (how they are now) in either ascending or descending order and or to customise their order (i.e. physically move resource submissions up and down the order queue).

*The default setting would obviously be as it is now.

Comments are encouraged.

My, there must be a plethora of ideas in your brain. :-P I think it sounds pretty neat, but it may be difficult to program. I wouldn't know, as I'm not a very good programmer currently.

It wouldnt be that hard to program.

Also, i dont see much of a need for that . Not many groups use those so it wouldnt help many people...

That is a great idea. Often I run into time where I wish we could customize the order.

See, that's what i thought too at first. However, there have been a conciderable number of people wanting customisable resources (order) over the past few months.

It's fair enough and, (probably) a sad truth, to say that a number of chapters won't really need it, but then does every admin use the security role history?

I like the idea a lot. I'm sure it will just be put up on the to-do list, along with everything else though. I wouldn't hope for anything to be done.

Nice idea, but my group rarely has new reports, and usually aren't of that great importance to be in order...

Not going to happen. No offense, it's a decent idea; but I'm pretty sure it wont be taken to action. Good idea. And some of these ideas people post could be used for later improvements.

Simplified reason: The work isn't going to be done. And I don't blame whoever programs the site. Unless the idea was outstanding, I wouldn't bother with it either.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Couldn't you just copy all the articles into word, delete them them all, then re-enter them in the order you see fit?

I know, lots of work. But it does the job.

WTF is a literal moment?!

Sorry.

It would be a nice feature, I think, but not in any imaginable way essential. If I really cared about these sorts of things, I suspect I'd prefer to see time spent on something more important, like a search feature.

I totally agree. I never meant this to be an all important and vital feature for the site, merely a cool feature idea for the further future.
