Or you could pose as the janitor, take one of the high ranking workers and knock him unconscious, steal his uniform, use his keycard to access the top secret underground facility that contains the game, and getaway in your getaway car.

In other words: the early version of Halo will not be released.

Personally, now that I think of it, I'm glad things went the way they did. Halo wouldn't have even been released without the deal with Microsoft. Instead of trying to get my hands on a copy of the old game or make them continue on with how they were doing it, I'd show them the future of Halo 2. Show them they weren't going to be able to do what they envisioned for the game. Just to possibly get one that was better crafted and achieved exactly what they set for it. :P

That would be interesting though it would be highly buggy.

What I'm interested in doing is going back in time, funding Bungie, and telling them to stray away from Microsoft just to cause an alternate universe where it was only created for the PC to its full extent instead of being barred by the Xbox.

You better bring a lot of funding because Microsoft must have made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

I bet they did it because it was right there on their list of 7 things to do in order to take over the world. One of which was in fact join with a parent company.
