Video. ( I'll be deleting)-- I was just messing around with some effects and stuff in Sony Vegas
Ok so I recorded in 720p and then rendered in 1080i, would that somehow make t look worse ?
Would I have been better rendering in 720p ?
I have a HD tv, I have the right settings on my xbox and all that, I'm just wondering can I get better 720p quality then I already have ?
Personally I think it looks great and I'm happy with it but I need to know if I can get better quality out of it. ( I just got it yesterday).
Thanks.
Hey there,
By recording in 720p then rendering in 1080i you are in fact stretching the resolution and this will lower the quality. You can always go smaller in resolution but when you scale it up you will always make it worse. I have an HD PVR as well and I use to record Halo Reach in 1080i but at that resolution I can only record at 30FPS, which caused a crap ton of interlacing during the recordings. So I switched to 720p and that allowed me the record at 60FPS which took care of the interlacing problem.
I know how you feel, I wanted to record in full HD (1080i) as well but when you stop and think about it, you really don't need that much resolution if you plan on uploading it to YouTube. YouTube's resolution is half of what you are recording in (640 x 360) so you are already recording in double the size you need.
I use the M2TS (PS3) format which is the best setting for recording and I have my quality set to Best (13.5 MBPS) and set to Constant Bitrate.
Your render settings also play a major part in the quality of your video as well. Make sure your codec is set to something like Photo JPEG, H.264, or HD Video (720p). I would recommend using either QuickTime Movie (MOV) or Windows Media Video (WMV) for the format as YouTube seems to play these 2 types the best. Good Luck with the recording.
