Just after Jorge destroyes the Long Night of Solace, you hear a guy say;
"Reading multiple pings below the orbital deffence grid."

If all the ships where jumping in to orbit below the Super MAC Cannons, that would explain why we don't see them in used during the Reach campaign.

Which is completely stupid because that didn't happen whatsoever

What didn't happen?

The Fleet of Particular Justice was big. The first ships in could have come out of slipspace below the super MACs to take them out. The fleet still got a kick in the teeth though from Reach's defenses.

Signatures are for squares.

I thought the Covenant didn't even learn how to do that until after Cortana did it for the first time after the events of Halo CE.

You're thinking in-atmosphere jump. Jumping below the grid is just a precision jump, which they could always do.

the didn't even do jumps like that until Halo 2 ( GoO)

that whole statement is ludicrous because the fleet jump on the edge of the system and moved to the planet. they didn't just jump beneath the grid and ravage everything.

The game completely ignores the book.

Actually... in the book they do jump several ships directly behind the defensive line over the civilian stations.

Still, saying they couldn't until after Alpha Halo was destroyed is false <_<.

They made precision jumps during fleet engagements before they found Reach, and when they hit Reach.

They started making in-atmosphere jumps once Cortana inadvertantly showed them how.

He's right...and the UNSC's ability to do short range jumps took too long due to the calculations that were required rather then approximating it all...either way, good men and wemon died that day....but the spartans just disapeared....
