I really thought ODST was a step in the right direction.
It didnt have MC, so it offered alot more room in character the development.
Firefight was awesome, anything to add the game is.
They took out the BR, which was good, and made the SMG and pistol useful[if not overpowered]. Instead of having one overpowered weapon and just removing it, they attempted to buff the rest of the weapons to fill the void, instead of nerfing everything.
Being an ODST was a good start for not being a Spartan 2. I fealt baddass, yet not overpowered
No matchmaking was alright, I really got to know my halo friends better with hours of campaign and firefight
Now Halo reach on the otherhand
The characters wernt the mastercheif, but they were bland as all hell. All we really got was that Jorge was a nice big guy, emile was a baddass, and halsey tries loving the S3s but cant[like the history would suggest]. In ODST we had Mal, Jayne and Wash...I mean...Buck, Dutch, Mickey, Romeo, and Dare. Buck was the kind of guy who was large and in charge, and was harsh, but cared about his men. Romeo was a wise-ass, but baddass. Dutch was a bible bruiser, and mickey was a green smarty. Dare was a -blam!-, but that was refreshing to kats...blah. ODST wasnt perfect, but atleast they tried
They nerfed all the weapons. They didnt want one weapon to rule them all, so instead of making other weapons usfull, they hellah nerfed the BR and called it the DMR, and they got rid of some of the less used weapons, and added -blam!- ones.
The story didnt even start until level 8 when you have to go back to swordbase, otherwise youre just running around reach, fighting -blam!-. What the hells up with that?
Reach feels like ODST, if you stripped some flavour and watered it down. It had sooooo much potential, but they messed up
