It seems ever since you split with Microsoft that all of your attention has shifted to the PS3, but there are just as many, if not more fans of the Halo series on PC than the Playstation, with no preexisting console v. console rivalries against it. No support or patches for either of the PC titles you've released, both of which are rather gimped versions of the console versions (no COOP support, not even for lan, no patches, and a tacked on map editor), and still yet to receive news of a Halo 3 port to PC, god forbid we ask for Reach. Hundreds of petitions, requests, and a lot of outright begging for a port of a newer halo game, most of it on your own forums, and not a single one responded to by a Bungie employee.

For a developer that claims to have close ties with its community, you leave out a rather large portion of it in most of your recent business decisions. And for such a developer, I have rarely seen any employees actually come down from Olympia to talk to us mortals and directly respond to our questions (which there isn't much of an excuse for, Fourzerotwo regularly posts on Call of Duty's forums), so I don't expect much of an answer. So here I am asking for a simple yes or no question so that I can either move on to other franchises or continue to hold out hope for my all time favorite:

Bungie, do you care about your PC community?

There are those who said this day would never come.... What are they to say now?

Sorry if I'm wrong, but weren't Gearbox in charge of the Halo PC games?

Bungie owns the Halo franchise, and so they are the ones who dictate what platforms their games are released on.

Xbox Connect Gamertag: RogueWolf_I77V (Halo, Halo 2)
Xfire Gamertag: roguewolfi77v (Halo PC)

Gearbox did the PC overhaul for Halo:CE PC
Microsoft Game Studios had a small group overhaul Halo: 2 PC

Not Bungie

Bungie does not own the Halo franchise, Microsoft does.

So microsoft developed every halo game up until now? You'd have to be very naive the think that Bungie has no say in that stage of the development process

If you're reading this, congratulations. You've just pressed a button to find out a little bit more about me. Not that you will, but well done anyway.

Bungie does not own the Halo franchise, Microsoft does.

This is true, hence the xbox exclusivity. I also doubt that any new Bungie games are going to be exclusive to one console.

They collaborated with Bungie in porting it. I don't think they were ever in charge of it.

Bungie developed the games, but Microsoft owns the IP.

The point is, if Bungie wanted a Halo 3 or Halo Reach port to the PC, then there would be one. Not who developed previous ports to the PC

No, that would only happen if Microsoft wanted it, and knowing Microsoft, they want to push sales of the Xbox to the fullest.

Microsoft owns Windows, and thus has millions of untapped customers in the PC market

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Why is there no middle ground between Bungie employee and forum troll?

No, Bungie created and developed the Halo games, but Microsoft owns the copyrights, Microsoft is the one who decides from now on the fate of Halo. Bungie no more. (sadly)

  • 07.16.2011 5:18 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

Since Bungie's releases over the last 10 years have been all console releases (PC ports from other developers don't count), would you really expect this community to have a lot of hardcore PC gamers?

And I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that Bungie has shifted its attention to just the PS3. Developing for the PS3 =/= focusing on it exclusively.

"Middle ground" is a foreign concept to you, obviously.

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Bungie don't have anyone with experience developing for the PS3. While I'm sure nearly all of their staff has developed on PC at some point.

Microsoft owns the Halo IP. The decide what platforms Halo goes to.

Not Bungie's fault. And we don't know if Bungie's next game is coming to the PC. It might be. Wait till we get concrete details before jumping to conclusions.
