Yeah, losing the guest book is a bad thing.

I have two copies of Excel, but one is a trial and the other is part of a package that messes up every computer it touches. What is Excel supposed to do anyway?

It is a program which allows you to use a variety of advanced programming tools to create databases and formulae.

WarHammer...I'm seeing the original post here.

I agree with your EDITED post....Custom Rows have much greater capacity than rows...but we're just gonna have to make do.

  • 09.04.2004 12:35 AM PDT

I never see you post in these forums, in all my years here. Its a pleaseure.
Did you ever visit The Septagon?

Achronos posted twice with two very different subjects; the first to reply to me, the second to deal with the spammers. So there.

Actually, he dealt with White Horse, primarily. X-D

The last person I expected to post that. He usually just sticks to chapters.

Well, you're right, WarHammer01, I hate using these formatted forums. I only came here because

* it was Psyched's post.

* You told me your post got deleted, which kinda peeved me at the time for no reconcilible reason, (Sorry for the spaz-out I had earlier Acronos, it wont happen again)

Not that I dislike the Septagon, but I'd rather be working on my chapter than spending my time as a forum bunny hopping topics.

Also, (nitpicking again I guess) isn't this, *looks around and waves hands* the updated B.net the actual "New Hotness"?
Yes, but it's easier saying new hotness than the Column's new hotness.

Agreed. The Column-style custom DB's aren't anywhere near as useful as the row-styled variant. You really can'tt do much with them, and most of the time, you don't even have enough space to ask the questions or list the data you need. I mean, if we were asking questions in a database like " Ice Cream Flavors" (Which would be stupid, but just to use it as an example) you can't list words in the catagories over 8 characters long if you're using all six column in the database. Not to mention that when people make longer entries in these catagories, the columns become rediculously large, and almost rediculous to follow.

The Row Format works much better under a wide-load majority of circumstances, and allows you more customization. To do away with them is to limit the functionality of the database system, and put a cramp on founders to create MORE databases for similar topics, thus using MORE of Bungie.Net's bandwidth!

For those of us who have been founders for a while, it's not only going to limit the amount of content we produce for our members, but limit the quality of the content as well, possibly causing some founders to buy thier own websites from services like tripod or geocities just so that they can create individual structures for data containment that are actually WORTH using! Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the new hotness, but as a founder, I have just as much reason to be wary of the limitation as I have to be excited about the positive features of the new hotness. I worry about what I can offer to my members, as any founder should, and though I know that haveing quality over quanity is better in most cases, the majority of chapter databases lose thier appeal and worth to members after about four months, However there are times when some databases are hard to part with due to thier housing of information which may still have some long-term use or sentimental value to the founder / creator of the said database.

That being said, I am excited about the new hotness, but at the same time, I cannot help but be critical on certian areas. I do not question the Staff of Bungie.Net on the work which is basicly thier property to do with as they please, but at the same time, I cannot help but wonder why some features, such as the events bar (Which is loved by some, and hated by others) couldn't just be an optional feature choosable by the founders / staff whilest customizing thier chapter's sidebar.

Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems everyone would benifit from applying options and resources rather than further limiting them.

Another quick mention if I may. A darker, Elite-Oriented Theme would be perfect!

Another cool feature would be to allow chapter founders/staff/members to post screenshots on thier news boards for limited amounts of time. This would be great for clans to display XBL/HALOPC Scoreboards!

Hey Mods, ever hear of "FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION?"

THIS IS AMERICA! AM-ER-IC-A! AM-ER-I-CA! Nor RU-SSi-A not CHI-NA Not AF-GAN-IS-STAN, it is AM-ER-IC-A!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

On bungie.net, you have no freedom of speech. You have the following rules:

1. You have no rights.
2. Bungie controls everything.
3. Play nice.

So, get with the program before we decide bungie.net is better without you

Sorry Acronos. I'm as embarrassed as a Covie Grunt in a marine showering facility. I apologize, and retract my harsh words. I do not wish to tarnish my repuatation on the column, and apologize not only to you, but to the members of the seventh column who have viewed my post. It was disrespectful, and unprofessional. Again, i apologize.

That would be cool, yes, but it would be just like linking it. Just they wouldn't have to follow a link.

I'm not sure how I will like the new forums though. They will look alot cooler, yes, but I've grown to like the Threaded view. And it's doable(the threaded view) in alot of chapters because there aren't many huge chapters with very active forum members. I'll like it, but I'm not sure I'm all too much excited about losing the threaded view.

You just voiced my gripe, man! Lol! The threaded view allows us to operate the forums, and browse the entries/topics much faster. To turn it into something like this would cause it to lose it's "sex appeal" to some people.

The threaded view now just gets on my nerves; having to see new posts every time, slow loading times, having to wait ages until the post is available.

Psycho's note: I say the new ones are infinitely better.

I like the new way! alot less clicking! hey in the new 7th column forums will there be avatar's?

The basic rundown of this topic so far is more O, P, T, I, O, N, S than L, I, M, I, T, A, I, O, N, S. Letting us pick layouts and formats of our chapters, such as the old vs the new, would widen the range of variations, thus less chapters would look the same in look (aside from the theme).

These forums may work best with thousands of people posting in then everyday, but the threaded view allows you to see who is talking to whom with out having to quote (which some forget to do). They’re easier to manage too. The Events and Custom Rows are some of, if now the biggest of, my favorite things in chapters. Well, either way, we won’t know the real problems until the column is back up. *sign* I miss the old themes... I’ve grown SO attached to the old stuff. No matter how cool or new this update makes things... It won’t ever be the same.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I never really have liked the threaded view. But I've gotten used to it.
