Don't you just hate when your playing a game and the respawn time is like 10 seconds or something. They should make the respawn times no higher than 3 seconds because then you find yourself waiting to get back in the action.

If you ever play a CTF match on Sidewinder you'll understand why you have to set the respawn time higher. Unless you use the vehicle in the base spawn-kill method(cheap) is very hard to get the flag out of the base when the enemy is repawning quickly.

Same situation came to mind. In most CTFs, the 3+5 second respawn works best because otherwise people will spawn somewhere close to you a very short time after you killed them. This means that even if you manage to kill off the whole flag guarding group, they will all be back after a very short time, making your kills almost pointless, your ammo decreased, and theirs replenished once more.
If you meant in game types like Slayer, the longer spawn can get a bit annoying, specially in fast paced games like BG Snipers. The longer respawn rate can help you to learn the value of one life, though, and make you think things through before you go to attack the other team.

Personally I don't think that you have to worry about the respawning people at the base you're attacking very much. When it's an uncoordinated team game, the best way to grab the flag is by stealth, not by taking every one out and then grabbing the flag. Plus, on levels like Sidewinder, there are so many vehicles and heavies that are easily accessible that make it very annoying when you have to wait 10 seconds after someone merely pointed the cursor in your general direction and clicked the mouse.

fast respawns in ctf cause spawn killing to be necessary.

but in slayer it just gets annoying having to wait ten seconds.

Heyyo,

I wouldn't mind the long spawn times if I got to see where I'd spawn in, so if someone was spawncamping, I'd have a few seconds to get ready to gank that punk... but since it don't, usually I spawn, figure out where he is, and he's already n00btubed me. that's annoying.
