You can't change other people, you can only change yourself. In other words, you must BE the change you wish to see in the world.

I've got everything running through the router. Two Xbox consoles and two computers. Just recently my Xbox began logging offline for no reason but my computer would hold a solid connection. Then something even stranger happened, my computer and my Xbox wouldn't stay online at the sametime. If I turned my Xbox on my computer would lose connection and vice versa. I could still run two computers or two Xboxs but i couldn't have both a computer and a Xbox running at the sametime. I've not done anything to change the set up for my router or anything else on my network. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem might be. I'm prepared to go buy a new router because thats where I think my delima is but the "geek" in me says I can fix it. Anybody got any ideas?

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

You could get a new ruoter or try this:

The two routers that I've had experience with both had a feature in their software where you could save all your settings to a text file that you could later use to restore all your settings. If you made changes to the "out of the box" settings and you saved this file, find it and do a restore.

If you just plugged in the router and everything worked with the settings that came from the factory, there should be a recessed button on the router you can push with a pen tip or something in the setup software that restores settings to factory default.

Even when you don't change any settings, sometimes things get corrupted or a little brother plays with your network settings.

Nah! Tinkering with something on your own is never a bad option. You almost always learn something new and you may even fix it yourself. [Cliché] You only fail if you never try [/cliché]

I agree with Iggwilv... It's fun to mess with things on your own. Then if you fix it, it gives you a sense of accomplishment. Also you can learn things that you never knew before.

These guys are absolutely right, and to give up without trying your best to fix something like this, all this does is spend money sometimes unnecessarily, so its always best in my opinion to work on it till you tear it up or fix it you'd be amazed at how much you learn along the way. However in this particular instance I gathered from your opening thread that you had tinkered quite a bit and you seemed to know what you were doing so I avoided beating around the bush with you and advised a new router An example of quit wasting time trying and spend more time pwning asses HALO baby.

LOL, yeah I spent a fair amount of time eliminating any possibilties as to what the problem could have been. I broke down and bought the router because as I was double checking and, in certain cases, triple checking my connections and connectivity when the whole thing took a crap on me and I could no longer see the modem on my computer what-so-ever. I went in to check on it and all the lights were off and it wasn't turning back on in my lifetime. So, that as they say, was that. I ended up buying a wireless router for my computer to network with and I kept the extra long Ethernet cable to plug straight in for my Xbox. Thus far, we're running smoothly with no hickups. Thanks again guys for the input. See you online.
