Yeah, I personally don't swear, but you will find that the so called profanity filter covers a lot more than just swear words.

Still, immature or not, it would be nice to have the option to allow it in private groups.

I agree with Skibur.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I don't see a need to type swear words on any forum, private or public. It is completely immature.

The filter blocks more than just swear words.

Then get off the goddamn internet. Swear words are nothing but that. Words. The immaturity lies with the reader, whether or not they get offended by them. If you read the word "ass" and get up in arms about the gratuitous amount of profanity being demonstrated, it's time to pick a hobby other than the internet.

People need to lighten up.

Skibur, options are always nice. I agree with this thread, in saying that private groups should have much, much more freedom with posting styles. It should be completely up to the group admin whether or not you can rapid fire post, swear, or even post pictures in posts. For the mains, it's unreasonable. But for private groups, I don't see why having more options is in any way bad.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Private groups are easier to moderate. And since most groups follow the main rules, then what's the use of the filters?

  • 07.18.2011 1:40 AM PDT

Twitter | Nothing

The spam filter doesn't need to have a place in groups, so making it so that an admin can toggle it on or off would be nice. I can sortr of see why the web team would not want to get rid of the blam filter but it would still be nice to be able to toggle it.

Why all the hate? 30 seconds might not mean that much to you, but if it's bothering other people when it is so unneccessary I can't see why you are arguing against it. There is no reason to argue against it when it would be a switch that you can have on or off. What negative effects is it going to have on you?

Swearing is automatically considered immature by you?

I've tried to advocate this (along with other Bnet private group features) before. I hate how the private groups can be neglected with updates.

Take a step back with me and enjoy a taste of the bittersweet that is our current generation.

I enjoy Battlefield and Call of Duty, and Gears of War.

I love anything political.

Maybe because he would like to give groups more options and features. Most groups on this site are dead. They need some love.

I tend to agree, though I don't know that I have ever in 5+ years run into an issue with posting more than once every thirty seconds.

Mostly I guess I have never understood the profanity filter, even on the main forum pages. Words are just words. Misuse of any words can get you banned. There are plenty of actual uses for "curse" words though.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I wonder what the reason is for leaving the filter permanently on in groups, other than an oversight. I guess it could be because the webteam is scared of having too many posts too quickly overloading their servers or something, but I doubt it would account for enough of a load to do that.

It also might be to protect groups from getting overrun by spam and trolling users, but if an admin turns the filter off, then it's his own choice to risk that. I imagine that if this is an easy fix, it should be done.
