I just got Hex Editor and know how to use most of the features but I really want to change the look of my character. For example, being a grunt or elite the whole level. If anyone knows how to do this well than please help me out.

doing that will take alottttttttt of work. You'd need a ton of background knowledge on hex for doing that. My cousin is pretty good at hex, mainly cause he took a semester course in college just for hex editing (hes a software engineer so it was kinda necessary anyway)

Oh geez, I guess I thought is was easier than it was. Well, thanks anyway, I'll just stick to Halo CE.

Hex Editting isn't all that hard actually, especially if the person who made the Hex editor included a kind of 'key' or 'chart' to what the numbers =.

If you don't know that, then you could be seeing alot of Exception error screens.

Yea, if theres a sort of key/chart its alot easier. When your just looking at the hex, its tough as hell.

Well, I kinda know how to use it. Like if I want to play as a Grunt, I'll put all the grunt parts into the bitmaps of the cyborg and just delete the old one. But every time I try to play the level, the exception screen turns on.

Oh and by the way doesnt halo map tool do better? You can edit weapons and charecters on that too..........(I HATE FLOOD!!!)

Completely wrong way of doing it. The grunt is not in the map so you wouldn't be able to do it. You need to add all of the grunt with HMT (models, animation triggers, collision models, ect). You would't end up with a first person view of the grunt any ways, everyone would look like grunts (to you) and it wouldn't help you shoot people online either (unless everyone had the modded map).

Yeah, but like I have the third person hack for halo so I can see myself and all, but I just can't seem to change the normal files with the grunt ones, If somone does know how to do this, please explain. Ever since I saw the Grunts I was like, I MUST BE THESE THINGS. So far the only thing I've done is use SP maps on CE and possess a Grunt using the console devmode. So someone please help.

You must PMI the grunt with all of it's tags. Using HMT. You can find tutorials on halomods.com if you look.
