well, if you've recently witnessed the new halo 2 multiplayer vids, and you're like me, you can't get over seeing an elite driving a warthog or wielding human weapons. it simply goes against the proud nature of the aliens that you and i have grown accustomed to.... hence, i have come up with a way to rectify this heresy and still make the elites' team balanced. first off, what would you think about having your own small squad of grunts to command in multiplayer? each elite could have a small number of ai controlled bots to boss around in live play. it could be similar to, but better than the squad control in rainbow six 3 and each grunt bot's effectiveness would be reflective of the controlling player's skill (hit accuracy, etc.) and would of course also reflect the tactical thinking of that player. secondly, the ability to control a hunter. hold on now, let me explain myself: the elite team would have to call in the hunters from an off-level location before they could use them. it would be similar to the bridge objective mechanic in the vids seen by us all earlier today. one of those communication pods seen in halo 1 (cmon, you guys know what im talkin about) or something similar would have to be reached and activated by the elite team, which in turn would call in a dropship bearing the hunter upgrades. the advantages would be two-fold: first up, unlimited fuel rod gun ammo. its like having a friggin rocket launcher stapled to your forehead, only more, um, convenient and less, um, painful.... ok. sorry. anyway, the secondary advantage would be the big armor plate that the hunters carry with them. it would be a constantly and instantly available melee attack weapon, similar in power to a plasma sword. you wouldnt have to switch between the fuel rod cannon and the armor plate to use it. additionally, you could carry one covenant weapon to go along with those. and dont get me wrong, fellas, im just as stoked and impressed with the vids as you guys are and believe that bungie is truly going to deliver the greatest game ever made on november 9. i just had these thoughts pop up and i would like to know what you guys think. any additional details and suggestions would be appreciated.... so what of it? oh yea, if you choose one of the latter two choices, you'd better elaborate. or else you'll lose your genitalia. honest. ask derekw...
