The Forerunner, the Great Journey, and Heaven Theory

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

It's hard to forget about something that doesn't exist.

Happy face.

Looks awesome!

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

So, are those ancient human ships on the cover? They don't look like forerunner things/ships.

Posted by: anton1792Having the same species that created all life turning around and trying to destroy it because of the actions of a single species just seems exceptionally stupid to me.

Edit: A group that petulant and devoid of justice doesn't seem like they could advance very far as a species (imagine what their justice system and government is like if they would destroy everything because of the actions of a few)- it seems like it's more describing the Brutes than the species which created all life in the Galaxy.

I agree generally. Though it may turn out to be that it was not only the Forerunners that had a part in their decision on what action to take after being thrown out of the galaxy.

Speculation, but other races in the galaxy may have had a hand in their demise with the Forerunners as the ringleaders, inciting a sort of rebellion for whatever reason. The Prisoner says that Didact's "kind" rose up and destroyed them, however it does not rule out the possibility that they may have been the leaders with the rest of the galaxy behind them. They would still be responsible primarily, but others would take a share in the blame that the Precursors may have decided to punish as well.

Another is that they have taken shame in their creations. After being ousted by the Forerunners, they may have seen their creations for what they are: Warlike. If the Precursor are pacifists who wanted to establish a peaceful "Garden of Eden" type environment for their creations with the Mantle, only to have themselves ousted by their own creations, and then have to watch from afar as they start to slaughter each other (See the way Covenant races treated each other on first contact, and the way they treated Humanity), then the Precursors may have been disgusted with what they had done and felt the need to put an end to it.

Edit: Of course, they would not know about the Human-Covenant war, but it was just an example of what else may have been occurring in the galaxy at that time that the Precursors witnessed.

Holy -blam!- that looks badass. Cant wait!

I still hold to the possibility the Prisoner is the main, and sole, villain here. The Precursors as a whole may not wish to destroy the Forerunners, but Prisoner does.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Another biblical allusion in the making folks. Precursors were disappointed in their creations and sent a flood (the Flood) to wipe them out.

I like this version of "God" rather than the Pokemon version of "God".

Yup, ironically he isn't the first OR the last Pokemon.

The biblical allusion theory makes sense. I'm interested in what is happening to Chakas and Riser.

This quest sets off a devastating chain of events that nearly ends the Forerunner empire.
The Forerunners are going to find the Flood burried on Earth or the other Human planet and accidentally release it onto Forerunner worlds.

This also proves that the Forerunners haven't vanished.

Uhh, this was proven when the Encyclopaedia was released, like 2 years ago or something.

Flood wasn't on earth and that already happened in cryptum.

and we already know they are still alive

I actually have a little idea personally.

I think Chakas and Riser were present at Installation 04. Remember when Spark said, "Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it? Having had considerable time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed. There is no choice. We must activate the ring.", I'm starting to think he wasn't referring to the Dialect, but either Chakas or Riser because they are human and so is Chief.

Flimsy evidence at best.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

The beginnings of the Flood Forerunner war good times.
