Subject: Can Spartans swim in MJOLNIR?

"I don't care if it's God's own anti-Son of a -blam!- Machine or a giant hula-hoop!"

Think of the old time diving apparatuses.

You sink to the bottom, but you can still move about.

So no, my guess is you can't swim in them, but you can still move underwater.

Hello! You may also know me as Ijnekono. How you have made your way here I do not know, but welcome. (:

This seems pretty accurate. A Spartan is probably too heavy to swim well so they would just walk on the ocean floor. I mean, they can float around in space to why not water?
Note: Maybe some spartans could be equipped with gear that turns their suits into miny submarines!

Notice him sinking like a rock, that isn't swimming

Jesus loves you! But I think you're a -blam!-

Tom and Lucy jumped into the water and managed to float, then again that wasn't MJOLNIR. I'm not sure about the weight difference.

You're forgetting that Blue Team wasn't outfitted for MJOLNIR, only energy-shielded water wings.

What! How did they get their hands on Halo: Reaches EVA?

Well, can they? I was thinking it'd be much too heavy, and that there's no buoyancy in the suit.

How do you know? The suit could have some sort of buoyancy device.

That being said, we don't know if Spartans can swim in Mjolnir. Bungie never developed swimming mechanics for any of the Halo games (which the should have because swimming would be a cool game mechanic and change map design).

Because he read the books, and a 1,000 pound suit is not going to be able to move in water. Walk at the bottom? sure, but not swim

Well I read the books too.

The Spartans also have super strength and endurance. They could probably swim several times better than an Olympian or Navy SEAL.

Not in the 1,000 pound armor that would pull them down instantly

I'm going to go with Squeak52's guess. Though, corpses in multiplayer do float in water, so I dunno.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Yes. Weight is no issue, or else whales would sink like a rock. They just swim like dolphins.

A corpse within a corpse.
CORPSEPTION.
Win.

Of course there's buoyancy in the suit, it's not just solid metal. In fact, it has variable buoyancy, on account of the fact that it's vacuum-rated, giving it trapped air, and variable internal pressure allowing for, in effect, greater or reduced buoyancy.

Spartan IIIs could swim in SPI Armor.

Can't say anything about about MJOLNIR though.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think.

Not really. Tom's got waterlogged.

Multiplayer is not, never was, and never shall be canon, for a variety of reasons.

  • 07.21.2011 12:58 AM PDT

the suits are just too heavy for the users to swim

  • 07.21.2011 5:43 AM PDT

No, ExcessiveFaun6 is not my real gamertag.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

If he ever has to swim, Master Chief would most certainly skinny dip.

  • 07.21.2011 8:58 AM PDT

In the games. Spartans are extremely Hydrophobic, and can only swim when dead.

Wasn't he also sort of unconscious? I find it hard to swim when I'm knocked out.

but if his armor had this "buoyancy" people claim it has without posting and proof he would float regardless.
