Depends entirely on the video card
For example my 9600XT scores higher than my 9800pro at 640X480, but the 9800pro dominates at the higher resloutions.

If you experience lag online, it's because your getting mal-formed/extra packets. If you have monitoring software you might notice that the IP address your connected to is flickering very fast, it will actually slow down during extreme lag and you'll be able to see a second address that is causing the lag by pinging the heck out of you. I haven't been able to get a straight answer as to whether this is an intentional part of halo designed to "level the playing field", or if this is some exploit of the windows operating system--> but after I had to "go-lawyer" on them, we suddenly get a new patch.

Also, it wasn't until after I bought my 6800GT that I realized that there is no real scoring difference between the various video cards when playing Halo multiplayer, getting your internet settings correct is far more important... If you don't believe me ask Doublestuff, he's whooping everyones arse with an old Ti4200 (but he's doing it on a T-1 line).

Also, if you have cable internet, don't waste your money on the higher bandwidth package, they only gurantee the download speed and NOT the upload (It means my bullets hit you faster "guranteed", while your bullet speed stays the same).
AND NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER let anyone else do ANYTHING on your LAN while playing (I mean ANYTHING, not even casual internet browsing). The game server keeps the record of the game/all the relevant information about the players, whether that information gets to you or not, so bottlenecks on your LAN typically won't prevent other players from scoring on you. For example, if I shoot you while you're lagging because some one else on your LAN is surfing on the internet -you still get hit, but you only see major-warping just before you die.

(the phrase "go-lawyer on someone" is the funniest thing I ever came up with in law school and I use it every chance I get as a funny-threat or to give waring that I'm about to become very -blam!--retentive).

Also standard legal disclaimer: this information is not intended to be used and/or relied upon by anyone, anywhere, at anytime, for any reason.
