The prophets used the keyship with a minimal of understanding making them able to defeat the sangheili.

the elites were reluctant to explore forerunner relics on there planet, so their technology was -while still good- not as good as the prophets, who had the forerunner dreadnaught, and had explored and repurposed forerunner technology, so their ships were super powered

I accidently used the wrong Xbox Live Gamertag on this, oh well :P
My real gamertag is jcgerrard8, if you want to play with me then send me a message :)

the Elites were by far the better warriors, but the Prophets had a better understanding of Forerunner technology and knew how to use it.

This ^

The Forerunner Deadnought that Truth used to activate the portal was originaly on the Prophet home world.

once the rebel prophets launched it and left their planet they met the elites.

The elites where strong and had many numbers, but the prophets had the dreadnought, and whooped their a$$es, untill they were locked in stailmate and formed a truce.

It's a testament to the Sangheili that they stood up to the San Shyuum, even with Forerunner tech at their disposal. I would love to see what native Sangheili tech looks like. Perhaps now that the Covenant has fallen, we can see Sangheili embrace who they once were; and build upon that.

The Sangheili had more soldiers and more ships. They would have been more or less the UNSC's level of technology at this point. The Prophets however were more advanced and had a Keyship. The situation was very similar to the Human-Covenant war. Elites would have won on the ground but got their ass's kicked in space.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

I would love a game that explored the Elite story more... But I would expect it to do about as well as ODST did...

It's possible that we see the native Sanheili tech in Halo 4.

They won't be in halo 4 story wise if not MM.

And i doubt after thousands of years they will randomly come up with tech 5 years later (which they didn't)
