"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

The Elites in Halo had armour that had a shielding system that was once it pops it stopped working.

In Reach, 3 and 2 they recharge like Mjolnir.

And this blows a huge hole in Halsey's research with Jackal shield technology.

So why did the UNSC spend all that money and resources reverse engineering a Jackal shield when the could have capped a few Elites and innovated on that technology?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

elites were not spotted often, and the jackal shields were picked by the spartans.

But they were spotted and a few of 'em definitely would have been killed.

So in the middle of the battle they are suppose to rush and try getting the elites body?

by your logic they should have picked up hunters also, what about brutes?

Really? I don't remember that.

Because Covenant technology is compartmentalised, and whenever you try to open these compartments it self-destructs. No one could reverse-engineer anything Covenant in origin.

However, someone got lucky and found a damaged Jackal shield gauntlet that had one of the compartments exposed, but it did not self-destruct. That little nook is the only reason the UNSC got shields so early. It was the only opportunity they had.

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

If you think the elites' shields didn't recharge in Halo: Combat Evolved, you're mistaken. Fire up the game and take out an elite's shields, then wait a few seconds if you don't believe it. Their shields work just as good, likely more efficiently than MJOLNIR shields did at that point.

Because to kill an elite, you fill it with bullets. The chest area would be riddled with holes and the shield module would be damaged by that.

Implying there wasn't a remarkable spartan that was known for her sniping abilities.

Implying the UNSC even knew where in the elite armor the shielding module was.
