i recently started to look at stuff on here for when CEA comes out and i keep seeing "canon" mentioned

what does it mean (or stand for)?

Canon is a term that refers to set in stone events and facts in an established fictional universe. It is used in reference to every detail that happens in the story.

Exactly! If they wrote a book that said Master Chief died during Halo 2, it would be "Breaking canon" or "Non-canon" because it never actually happened. It contradicts things that cannot be changed.
