Subject: How active is ODST on Live these days?

I'm looking for a good summer game, and for me that means revisiting old games that I wanted to pick up but never got the chance to when they first came out. I'm just curious how active Multiplayer is these days. I plan on picking it up anyway for the campaign. I'm a bit of an achievement nut and am just curious if I still have a chance of completing the Multiplayer achievements or if I will need to do some recruitment to bring people back into the game?

Being an Elite is its own reward.

I'm assuming you are wondering how active Halo 3 online is, seeing as how ODST does not have its own online multiplayer capable component, aside from firefight, which you can only play by creating a game with friends (no matchmaking).

Its harder to find a match on Halo 3 multiplayer than it was in its hayday. I liked multiplayer in Halo 3 better than Reach, but you probably won't find as many games/get as much playtime in with Halo 3 as you would with Reach or another game.

As for achievements, the achievements in ODST are pretty easy (one is swap weapons with an NPC, another is kill like 25 enemies with the new pistol), the campaign is easily doable on solo, the hardest achievements are the vidmasters, and some of them require 4 people. However, it is enjoyable.

Halo's main draw has always been the multiplayer however, and multiplayer achievements are easier to get when there are a lot of people playing the game. Halo 3 seemed far less populated last time I was there, but it could have changed.

For a bountiful multiplayer experience, I would get Halo Reach or a newer game. If you want a fantastic single player experience, Halo 2 hands down is the best for that in the series.

Well thank you. I did in fact mean ODST multiplayer. I was unaware that there was no matchmaking. I guess you'll see me back on here when I want some of the co-op achievements. This is the only Halo I don't own so I'm definitely interested in picking it up.

This is so true, play the H2 campaign on legendary with mythic and thunderstorm activated and see what a real challenge for a gamer is...magic...and as for the MM..we wouldn't have what we have now without H2...back to topic, as TerminAidor rightly stated no MM as we know it in ODST but it is still a wonderful game and the graphics are without fault as is the story line, just grab a few friends on your list and play the campaign and do the vidmasters and I reckon you will have a great gaming experience and a good laugh to go with it...enjoy it...

It's Hazard Time

Well, ODST does have one of the best campaigns, a little too branched and split up, but great none the less, and drive around the deserted New Mombasa on a mongoose messing with the covenant is priceless ;)
The last Halo of the good old Halo school, great campaign and great MP, that's right. Firefight in ODST is hard, much more challenging then in Reach, prepare for pain and glory! :)
Team up with a friend or 3 and you'll have teh most intense hours of your lives, these AIs are big, mean and got super-aim, a challenge worthy any hardcore player. Survival is not an option :P

Reach, I would say you rent and try, campaign is pretty boring (imo) and lacks any kind of big battles or open spaces, many corridors and repetitive missions. MP is full of campers, lag, host advantage and broken bloom, and FF is just way to easy :/
It'll be fun for a while, just like CoD, but after playing one will realise that it's hollow, empty, and no real skill more luck.
Then you'll turn to other games like Homefront or Battlefield 3, where skill, teamwork and such are a must (that is until Halo 34 is released), after playing on dedicated server you'll never be able to handle a sub-par p2p experience again. ODST is a diamond in the rock :)

Just so everyone knows. I have Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach. This was just about ODST. I own all the others and have played all the others I know how good or bad they are.

Thanks for the information though. I order ODST through amazon last night. It will be here today.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

If you enjoy playing a really good campaign, single-player or co-op, you're going to love ODST. =)
