"And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But i will do all i can to keep it stable - Keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this wil absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions.

But i would have my masters know that i have changed.

And you shall be my example."

Those are the last words from Mendicant Bias to John. Anybody care to speculate whether mendicant was behind the Portal closing on the Chief and whether he somehow guided him to the planet which COULD be a shield world where his "Masters" wait?

Mendicant Bias is using the Master Chief to atone for what he did in the past.

I don't think MB was behind the portal closing in on the Chief - there's no physical way he could have. But, maybe just maybe Mendicant Bias is somewhere following the Chief or guiding him. Along with Cortana of course.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Not entirely true.

When the Halo Rings are shown above the Ark in Origins, they all head into the slipspace portal. This confirms that multiple objects in slipspace are not simply sent on a 1-way vector because each of the Halos end up in different locations. So it is therefore logical to conclude that it was very much possible for Bias to send half the Dawn to Earth and the other to the Legendary Planet.

I believe it is stated in one of the Terminals the Bias infiltrated the portal's systems, so he has a degree of control over it.

Ah, I misunderstood the OP then. If that's the case then I agree with you ajw that Mendicant Bias has some degree of control over the portal's systems.

Well in the terminals MB did say "I .SEE .YOU .RECLAIMER" and he did also say "They don't want me talking to you" or something along those lines. SO maybe... Just maybe he followed us through like you suggested?

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

SCFH

We shall find it out in Halo 4.
