Subject: In what direction would you take halo 4?

LONG LIVED METAL

Personally I would find some way to include Noble 6, Masterchief and the arbiter all into one playable lump.

I would bring back the flood and introduce some massive new flood zombies.

I would introduce a bad spartan and perhaps a boss fight or two.

Multiplayer would have as much custom stuff as is possible - including controls.

How about you?

  • 07.22.2011 5:06 AM PDT

I have no idea what they're saying....Smile and nod.

Did you finish Reachs campaign?
OT:i would like to see the arbiter though

  • 07.22.2011 5:18 AM PDT

1. Noble 6 died. ( The point of Noble 6 was that you were him, that every Halo player took their multiplayer Spartan into the campaign and was a unique spartan, that's why he is Noble 6, he doesn't have an actual name)

2. In the Evolutions book, there's a story about Thel 'Vadam 10years after the events of Halo 3. There was no contact with any Spartan within that time. And I'm guessing Chief wasn't in that cryo tube for very long. So the arbiter won't be in it.

I'm hoping that 343 will incorporate all the other Spartans and Dr.Halsey into it, either there'll be a book about what happened to them or it will be in the next trilogy, which I hope it is.

I read in another thread that this guy thought it would be a good idea to have flashbacks of the chiefs life. Which I think is a brilliant idea, as long as it wouldn't be like the cortana cam in halo 3 that slows you down when you move. More like you see shadows of fights that the chief was leading in and other Spartans that were on blue team, and definitely have Sam in there, he thinks of Sam a lot in the books.

But that's just what I think, it's not going to happen, I also think it would be a cool Idea if 343 added 'The Silent Cartographer' as the classic firefight map that they're releasing with the CE remake, imagine having drop ships landing all around the island and having to defend one point and get in a jeep and drive around to another point on the island, I thought it was a cool idea, it's not going to happen though, it's going to be a map like the rest of them, after you played it twice it gets boring.

+ There shouldn't be any more flood, it says its some new threat anyway.

And sorry dude I don't think there'll be a 'bad' Spartan, this isn't Super Mario Sunshine here :)

Actually there will be a novel called "Grasslands" that is a sequel to "The Ghosts of Onyx" and it will follow the story of Dr.Halsey and the other spartans. The author is Karen Traviss.

Oh wait, noting I was thinking of something else, Half of the new book is dedicated to new characters and the other half is following from Ghosts of Onyx left of.

Is it a direct sequel ? with the same characters as in the other one ?

It will feature Blue Team and Saber but it will also have it's own new characters.

@2 That wasn't the Arbiter, it was some random Elite Shipmaster.

And really what other option is there to fight if not the Flood? A New Threat could mean anything, with the Flood being used as the puppets for a much larger game. The New Threat could easily be the Prisoner/Last Precursor, using the Flood to its fullest potential.

  • 07.22.2011 7:50 AM PDT

Joshua Piper

That could well be the case. the way the Forerunner trilogy is going, I suspect that it will tie in with Halo 4 and didn't Prisoner claim to be able to control the Flood? the Flood could well be his vengeance on the Forerunners. Perhaps you find him in Statis on the Shield World or the Last colony of Forerunners.

I'm interested in whether Bias will appear or have any import on Halo 4, he seems to be an important character and he may well have been responsible for the Portal collapsing as it did or directing that half of the dawn to the Legendary Planet. Either i hope he is mentioned either in the new book or in Halo 4.

I think it will have flood in it and I hope they make them really scary. The covenant is destroyed, but I wonder if some of the races will still make an apperance.. I hope so cause it would feel strange to play Halo without the covenant.

And I would very much enjoy Arbiter being a main charather or atleast makign a big cameo.
Might be hard to get a good story out of it but I consider the Arbiter to be just as much main charather as the chief and thats why I loved halo 2.

Been a Bungie fan since the days of Myth TFL.

I have a vision of...

-It all taking place without any other human/covie involvement. Chief's journey as he tries to find his way back home, with new species and new weapons.

-the story fleshing out the precursors and forerunners, who they were and what they were about.

-the story of the oncoming rampancy of Cortana. i think this will most definitely play a big part in it all.

  • 07.22.2011 1:19 PM PDT

a civil war against forerunner genetic created (super) soldiers to fight the flood, both sides has automatic cloning facilities
renegaded forerunner machines commanded by six ais,
abominations are the fail genetic soldiers unstable dna (its rare)
as possible campaign foes

multi player possible ideas
automated artillery cannons that rain down shell randomly in a certain area

ship battle map to forge on ships included

I think halo 4 should have the arbiter in it more. not to replace chief, but to be at the same level as him. I also think multiplayer should have the whole thing where spartans and elites can be on the same team (like halo 3). it would also be cool to see what happens to grunts and jackals. i mean, elites join the humans, but what about the rest?

  • 07.22.2011 3:56 PM PDT

i agree i think their should be a bad spartin and iv heard roomers of it taking place on the elite plant and i think that would make for a great game and u should fight a spartin flood as a boss and show the story of how master chief came to be like his training and other spartins and more space battles like in reach to i think it would make for great game play

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I would make the story a continuation of the book "The Ghosts of Onyx". I wouldn't really care about anything else.

I'm hoping that the Halo Wars cast is included in Halo 4. They had so much potential as characters but this was limited by the fact that Halo Wars is an RTS. Jerome, Alice, and Douglas were all badasses in his or her own right. I'd love to save the universe with them at my side, at least for one game.

I think he was in the tube for 3-4 years.

Anyways, I kinda hoped Halo 4 wouldn't happen because it will be no fun without the Covenant. I'm more excited to gain more information about the game than the game itself. You gotta be prepared.

At least for once I want spartans by my side. Bringing in Jerome and the others would be very intresting.

  • 07.22.2011 5:28 PM PDT

they should make you find all the skulls again, not start with them

  • 07.22.2011 5:30 PM PDT

I would have you fight the Flood at first, but later on, would encounter some Elites that somehow got trapped on Sigma 7 or w/e it is, and also who find you hostile at first, but you explain what happened (you get the drop on them, or you see them first, but your gun is down, and they draw on you), with how the war is over and how the Great Journey is a lie possibly in a cutscene. they of course wouldn't take too well of hearing this, but MC explains, 'why else would i stop to explain this, if i wanted to, i could've killed all of you i've done it many-a-time before against your kind (makes Elites angry), and I fought alongside your Arbiter, Thel Vadamee', which will convince them, especially as you get deeper into what happened.

So you are with a stranded squad of Elites, and you encounter some Forerunners, some end up being good, and some bad. Some recognize you as the Reclaimer, but others, along with an exceptionally large Promethean, possibly 8 meters tall with 18 rate combat skin who you must fight as a boss do not, and find you unworthy, ties with allies end up being broken, the Flood comes into play.

You may be able to upgrade your armor from a 2-3 (Mark V was a 2, according to 343 Guilty Spark, but now he has Mark VI) with Forerunner armor components from friendly Forerunners, and get really kick@$$ weapons.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

All I know is that if Chief is to die, I'd have his mind meld with a Forerunner's at the end of the trilogy and have him wander off with the Forerunners.

Exactly my point. And having the Spirit of Fire or related crew would give a reasonable explanation for human weapons/allies within the confines of Halo 4.

Half Man.
Half Horse.
Half Machine.
All "Jerk Who's Really Bad at Math."

PS
No, I do not want to join your clan/group.

Personally, I don't want 4 to be the start of an entirely new trilogy centered completely around Master Chief.

I like the Chief, don't get me wrong, but to me ODST and Reach proved that there's so much more to the Halo universe than Chief's story alone.

Halo 4 would be all about the Chief, add to his already epic life story. Introduce a new character here in a supporting role, perhaps.

Halo 5 would continue the war, but with the ODSTs. The new guy's story is interwoven into the ODSTs adventure via comm chatter, data terminals, etc; fleshing him out while rarely actually seeing him.

Halo 6 finally puts you into the shoes of the new character and sees the end of the war. Possibly have a run-in with the Chief or two just to show that yes, he's still alive and kicking.

And at some point in the trilogy, I'd hope the friendly AI learns how to drive.
