Subject: Do Bungie care about modding and if so, why?

Massive fan of Halo series. Halo Combat Evolved=Best Game EVER! Computer programmer(C/C++, C#). Loves low-poly models. Regular pirate of software that SHOULD be free. Follower of Church of Emacs. GNU!!! User of Windows 7. Enjoys working on games(game development). More of a content developer than a engine programmer; more fun.

Personally I see nothing wrong with modding. If people want to mod I don't see why they can't. It doesn't harm anybody else. Hacking is different though. It can harm other's accounts.

NOTE: I have never modded Halo 3.

Because Modding can lead to potentially unfair advantages in MM. If you were around for the early Halo 2 days, modders ran rampant in MM though they were banned after 6 hours from matchmaking. Admittedly, there were alot of fun mods back in the day and some modders even made custom lobbys for people to enjoy the mods. Personally, i think those mods are okay, but the risk of unfair balance, advantages and the possibility of getting the Achievements easier are all major reasons why it's not allowed.

If you do wish to mod, i'd recommend Halo PC or Halo 2 Vista (or xbox now that it's shutdown from live). Other than that, i advise against Halo 3 modding (if you intended to do so)

I was generally referring to armour mods as in unlocking Recon. These mods do you put you at an advantage as armour does not have statistics and boosts as such.

They did the vidmasters for a reason so you do not deserve recon if you mod it.

As i said, defeats the point of the achievements to earn recon.
