can someone clarify what is said after "You must see the truth"? I can't figure it out after "learn"...
The thing is if 343 is declaring that John was at instillation 4 for a purpose why did 343 turn on him.
Already it sounds like a confliction of protocol.1. Bungie didn't have a wider scope of vision for the universe when making Halo 1. Just cool aliens and some sort of ancient wonder about a long-extinct race.
2. It was never explicitly explained how they knew to jump from Reach to Halo, however the coordinates Cortana gained from the artifacts as well as the data obtained from Halsey's Forerunner-study lab could have provided precisely that.
3. 343i might just be coming up with new story and writing for the sake of coming up with their own version of the entire Halo universe's events which I can already see being much different from Bungie's (Bungie made it all about Chief/Cortana, 343i seem to be making it all about Chief/Forerunner).
4. 343 GS turned on the Chief because decided to not cooperate. I see this terminal being somewhere early on in the game. If you think of the story canonically, you can see that the Chief has no prior knowledge of 343 until he sees him in the swamp, but with these terminals he'll have some extra knowledge about the history of the Forerunners as well as their purpose. I just hope they keep the dialogue intact, as the Chief isn't supposed to know that the Halo ring kills everything other than the Flood until Cortana explains that to him. So if 343 GS in a terminal on The Silent Cartographer is all like "So herp de derp the ring kills everything in the univars to kill dah flud" then when it gets to the Chief almost activating the ring, that whole cutscene will make zero sense.
