Everytime I play Halo: Combat Evolved on my PC, I have weird looking graphics. I go to video settings but it won't allow me to change the specular or shadows, so I'm thinking that has something to do with it. If anyone knows a solution I would really love to know it.

Your stuck in safe mode, re-install. DONT select safe mode again when installed.

1) What are your system specs?
2) Did you install the correct graphics drivers for your graphics card?

Also, what are the "weird looking graphics" like?

I know I'm not in Safe Mode.
By weird grapgics I mean Master Chief's Armor isn't shiny and glossy. The dirt and grass look darker and don't look exactly like the should. Actually pretty much everything is a darker shade then it shoould be. I don't know what graphics drivers is installed on the graphics card and the only specs i can give you is my computer is a HP Pavilion 734n

Is this what you have: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07974& amp;cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Based on the specs in the link above you should be able to run Halo Combat Evolved PC fine.

If your computer's specs are identical to the specs from the link above, then you can download the appropriate drivers from HP or from Nvidia.

Try downloading the drivers for the Nvidia Geforce4 MX 420

HP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us& ;dlc=en&product=296682&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USE N

Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Also, the game is naturally not shiny like the XBOX version. That's just the way it is.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

That video card is actually pretty bad. The MX420 is known to have problems with Halo PC similar to the ones you're describing. Sorry to say, Monkey, but that PC will never run Halo well.

Listen to DusK. I was just going by the system requirements not by experience. What do I know lol;)

There are differences. Your issue is the graphics card, apart from updating the drivers and tweaking settings, there's probably nothing you can do except play it on a PC.

Halo was the most CPU/GPU demanding software of it's time, remember crysis when is came out? Same applies here. Your lucky it installed never mind ran.

The moral of the story is; invest in proper hardware.
