Subject: 343i thinks Master Chief = Halo, that is wrong...

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Halo will go to Halo 6, HALO 6!!!!

All about Master Chief and his continued story.

ehh, I don't like the sound of that.

To me, halo is more than MC, Halo is about the battles of the men and women, fighting to defend themselves from the covenant and the many people who served and gave their lives to defend their species from destruction.

I liked Reach, ODST, and Halo wars becuase I saw different perspectives on the Human/Covenant war from the beginning to end of the war.

With that being said, already announcing to make a new Trilogy to Halo 6, that is milking it.

What is sad is we have been accustomed to, "If it ain't got the chief, it ain't Halo".

I simply don't think that is true and if 343i pans to handle Halo that way, it is going to suck.

What do you guys think?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Yes while i dislike that statement by them i am fine with another 3 games of MC; after which he needs to be killed off so the lore can truly expand.

I agree, like the other thread, I would <3 a Halo wars 2, ODST 2, some other expansions into the Halo universe.

It would be neat having story directly from the books/more side story.

When I see Halo 6, I will facepalm.

No sir, Halo is about the actual weapon constructs in my eyes, the original series had it right, each game had a Halo in it aside from ODST and Wars, this new series better have Rings.

But the Halo universe is so much more expansive than fighting on the Halo rings.

I <3'ed Reach, ODST, and Wars for showing us more backstory than we were directly exposed to in the general Halo games.

But, fighting again on a Halo ring in Halo 4 seems improbable.

  • 07.23.2011 11:48 AM PDT

I'd rather the games preserve the feel of epic, mystery adventure, maybe keeping the Chief the main character, and have the books expand on the other corners of the universe.

ODST kept that feeling of mystery, as did Wars, kind of, but Reach was just boring.

So long as the games keep the mystery feel, I'll be fine with it, Chief regardless.

  • 07.23.2011 11:49 AM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

But...Halo is mainly about MC. He's the main character of 3 of the 8 books, is in 5 of the 8 books, and he's the main character of 4 of the 7 games(if you count anniversary.)

Look at ODST, Wars, and Reach, they didn't sell as well or get as good reviews as the original trilogy. It's only natural from a business standpoint that 343 would return to the Chief. He's iconic. He's Halo's face, and arguably the face of Microsoft.

I will be happy with that too, but it will be interesting to see what they come up with becuase I don't want to do the same thing I have done for 3 more games.

Considering you are running into what seems to be a Forerunner construct and there are 6 rings still out there with Flood on them, It is indeed possible.

Yeah, MC is only in the next games becuase he sells more becuase he is one of the first things you think about when you think of Halo.

but, he is definitely not the only important part of Halo.

I mean considering the story from the books, ODST, Halo wars, etc. There are many, many different and complex parts to the Halo story other than MC.

most of us will be around 30 when this trilogy ends.

do you want to be 50-60 still playing as MC?

I want them to explore the Forerunners. Halo, to you, might be about the UNSC and Covenant, but to me its everything in the Ancient era. Master Chief is the bridge between contemporary Halo and Ancient Halo, so seeing him return is a blessing to those like me.

oh god, 3 more Halo's of blowing up the Halo rings, stopping the flood, all over again.

I am not too keen on doing the same thing over and over again. I hope 343i is a little more creative in their story than that.

But, it will be nice to see Chief again, I hope 343i doesn't milk him.

  • 07.23.2011 11:56 AM PDT

343 doesn't think that, and have never said that to my knowledge. I know that Phil Spencer said that, however. If 343 thought Halo = Master Chief I don't think we'd see so many stories that do not feature the 'Chief at all.

This,a hundred times this.

The Forerunners,Flood all those ancients are much more important for the overall storyline then the Covenant.

I missed that kind of story in the previous games.Reach, wars and ODST were all typical Human-Covenant war battles, they were fun but nothing like the Ch33fs storyline

  • 07.23.2011 2:40 PM PDT

"Oh you -blam!- camping whore!"
"It's a legitimate strategyyyyyyy!"

I would imagine that they follow him and the new trilogy brings us back to the Forerunners vs the Precursors which the books are alluding to being the source of the Flood as well as all life in the galaxy including humanity and the Forerunners. It is still Halo but the Covenant is no longer a mainstay issue as it would appear. Through Cortana and the Chief's eyes, we probably delve deeper into the galaxy's past. And if you think 343i thinks ONLY the Chief is important, you obviously did not hear the panel at Comic Con. OTHER characters and other parts of the Halo universe along with the Chief will be the focus in Grasslands and again in the 2nd novel in the Forerunner book trilogy.

I am really curious to hear about what happened to the Spirit of Fire crew. Maybe we will find out in the new Karen Travis books if not a game.

This as well. The Ancient era has more importance from a plot perspective overall then the Covenant.

My real gamertag is jcgerrard8, if you want to play with me then send me a message :)

Remember that 343 dont revolve around Master Chief, they still help with books (The Forerunner saga in particular, and also Glasslands), short stories like Evolutions, then brinigng them to the screen, and much more.

Chief is certainly a big part of the universe, and I will be happy to play as him again, but remember that it won't be all about Chief, 343 will be focusing on other things too.

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

I started playing this game as the Chief and I sure as hell intend to end playing this game as the Chief. Not some rookie, or half-assed Spartan-III.

"Wake me... when you need me."

Well, ironically, if you've ever really read the terminals in Halo 3 you'd find that MC might not even be the main character in this entire story at all.

I'm hoping for maybe a multi-perspective story like Halo 2. It'll increase the sense of epicness (which is required when you consider the entire Universe is at stake.)
