I am having great fun playing 3 online the past few days.Me too. I have given up my quest to get Mk. VI armor in Reach, the only reason i was playing that POS, and started this again. So much more fun and less noobs.
I recently went and collected all the skulls and got hayabusa, looks better than what reach offers. 3's maps offer more vechicle and weapon variety than reach I have noticed, so its less monotonous.
Plus you cant have your warthog flipped by BR or Carbine shots... whoever rebuilt the warthog for reach needs slapped in the face...the needle rifle should not be able flip a truck that's in mid ramp or jump......and the only thing that keeps reach superior to 3 in my book is the forge !Alas, Reach was a return to Halo 1 and Halo 2. But did it bring back the good things (i.e. fast and scoped pistol, bigger Needler clip size, Elites)? In a sick, demented, son of a -blam!- kind of way.
Aforementioned pistol's potential locked by waiting time impose (a.k.a bloom).
Vehicle health without hud. Smoke is hardly a reliable indicator, since vehicles are very easy to destroy.
Vehicle safeguard removed. When you're piloting the Wraith, you can be damaged by firing too closely. Realistic, but hardly suitable for gameplay.
Needler that has good accuracy, but is useless because AI dive too fast and because you have to use a lot of it's clip (first take down shield then kill).
Elites that fire longer range, but have near omniscient AI and everything about them is cheap (i.e. faster recharge rate, fast melee, fast ). But the worst part is, their AI is hardly intelligent. They only seem intelligent. Halo 3 Brutes, while also having this unfortunate omniscience, believe it or not, were very intelligent. You melee a dead body through them, they notice.
Jackals are way too cheap. I've already complained about them so I'm not going to bother.
The Brutes in this game have a cheap thing: can't be assassinated. While I haven't fought one, this breaks realism (I thought that was what they were going for?). It would have been better to just make their melee range bigger (like CE, 2, and 3 Elites).
Checkpoints. I still get them when I don't want them. I still get them when I don't need them. I still don't get them when I want them. There are only three ways the checkpoint system would work:
-the ability to save anytime and a checkpoint menu selection, as seen in Halo PC
-save anytime
-Pokemon style saving (i.e. go to a terminal, save there)
There's a lot more that I could go into, but I'm not going to bother, as I'm going to play Halo 3 to get some footage of Brute intelligence.
