A wide open place for PC Halo players to come and chew fat.

OR

The mouth, stomach, jaws or gullet of a voraciouse animal, especially a carnivore.

Or so the banner up top says...

I think they named it that because you go into the maw of the horse (ship) you rode in on.

Yes it actually one of the best end game sequences to any game I ever played. You have made the reactor unstable and it's going to blow, you have to drive thru a large tunnel in the ship to get to the hanger bay and you only have about 5min to do it. I escaped with only 25sec remaining.

For once you didn't have to kill a "boss" to win the game. Thank you Bungie for getting away from the "Mario" syndrome.

I thought the ending was awesome too. A very nice way of showing how MC survives the Covenant and the Flood, yet no saving the whole world, no stupidly complicated boss, and of course, the completely exhilarating run away from the core, which, even though there was barely any killing in it, I though was one of the best parts of the game. If anyone hasn't yet finished the game, I recomend it higly, specially because of the last level.

it was an incredable ending. its just dum that in most gmes you end up destroying all the enemieswe and evryone survives but here it shows that you wher forst to sacrafice all your people to save humanity.

I wholeheartedly agree. The final sequence on Halo1 was, for lack of a better word, Legendary! I've never had any game get my heart pumping so much as running that gauntlet for the first time. I remember the first time my friend and I played that level; we were just blown away.

I was somewhat..."less thrilled" with the Tartarus fight at the end of H2...

I hope Bungie goes back to the "campaign" style ending for H3. A giant boss in a shooter just seems so ghetto. EDIT: Save those for RPGs...

"Oh yeah, that's rich. He just ate 2,000 rounds to the face and is coming back for more. Wonderful stuff."

I gotta say, I loved the ending too, but it was a little odd to end one of the greatest FPS's with a driving mission...

the ending in halo 1 is incredibly done. no boss battle. just 5 minutes of pure suspense as you drive toward the ship to leave. halo 2 on the other hand.... a boss. i hope theres no boss at the end of halo 3. its getting kinda trite to end games with a battle vs. a single superpowerful enemy.
