I agree. IDK why Bungie just didn't follow TFoR's storyline. I think it would've been more interesting.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

Because then the game would have been mainly about the Spartans being made. Only the last two chapters or so was about the actual Fall of Reach; hardly substantial for a game.

Don't forget that to Bungie and 343i, both events line up other then a few retcons...Don't try to argue about that part, many have before you. Us complaining won't change it and I'm surprised nobody asked them about it at the halo panel.

And, add First Strike. It had more details about Fall of Reach than that Fall of Reach novel.

Otherwise, OP. I agree with you, it broke the canon but it is nice to see Capt. Keyes in PoA in updated graphics, it's bit amazing how they heavily detailed Keyes and PoA.

Wait wait wait, I just realized that we already answered the POA thing, theres a retcon as Halsey calls the POA before they leave. In the game tho, the time the POA had landed was after (hours) after the blue team mission. I don't remember the actual words but that's the run down of those events.

PoA wasn't rated for atmosphere. Once it gets in atmosphere, it'll drop this massive ship quickly due to gravity and large weight of this ship. Also, it cannot lift off as well due to gravity and weight as well. Have you seen that emergency thruster rockets? They are no bigger than 300m long, which in realistic sense, it is not enough to lift this ship off.

Oh yeah I remember that part and although someone argued that the POA was rated to be able to go planet side but not to be able to hover there (Like frigates) also some said that there were a number of thrusters not shown due to game limitations. Actually we came up with alot of ways to explain it but overall your right as that is a problem...as always I must throw in the rule of cool as an explanation.

Source for not rated for atmosphere? And rocket tech from 2011 =/= rocket tech from 2552. Also, those rockets would be aided by those "hovering devices" I've been talking about.

Halo Reach didn't break canon in the scope you're implying.

First Strike or Fall of Reach.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The Fall of Reach > Halo: Reach

In my eyes, I follow The Fall of Reach as canon. Halo: Reach who?

Man, it must suck when the person who created the whole wonderful universe of Halo gets chastised by his fans because he didn't want to follow the story of a book that wasn't written by him. He apparently has no control over the universe that he created from the ground up.

None.

Not to mention that TFoR came out bout a month before Halo:CE

My name is Miguel Adame and I am 15 years old. Nobody's perfect, but I'm pretty close.

I'm gonna go ahead and call bull-blam!- considering "The Fall of Reach" was there first.

Blind Haters!
As far as I can see no event in TFoR has been declared non-canon. So what's the problem? Is it really that bad that some dates were switched and some lines removed?

Im hoping they include a Blind Hater title for the B Universe forums

Yes, so then what in the world is happening in Halo: Reach? Halsey was not at Sword Base, she was at Castle Base with Blue Team. Cortana was not delivered to the PoA by Noble Team, and was created earlier. The artifact or rock at Sigma Octanus IV supposedly contained the coordinates to Halo and not the latchkey.

TFoR would've been more fun to play imo with all the big battles on the ground going on with defending the Super MAC generators, the Orbital Station, Castle Base, there was alot they could've gone through to make a full-length campaign. And I do like armor customization, but it was a bit corny with all the customizable armor Noble had, I miss the old Master Chief classic Mark V look for all the Spartans.

Bungles canon out rules book canon

Halo: The Fall of Reach is the prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, and is also the first Halo novel to be published. It was written by Eric Nylund, and published on October 30, 2001

Halo: Combat Evolved, often called Halo 1, or Halo is a first-Person Shooter science-fiction video game, created by Bungie Studios, which was a subsidiary of Microsoft Game Studios at that time. It was released for the original Xbox game console on November 15, 2001

That the fall of reach is the one who broke canon since games>books.

Then again it was nice to see C. Keyes and the autmn in reach's amazing graphics.
Captain Keyes ftw!

So in a way, the game, Combat Evolved, was based on a novel written by Eric Nylund, known as Halo: The Fall of Reach.

Interesting...

Halo "the flood" ether page 40 or under.

Keyes thinks to himself if the Atummn would be able to do a crash landing as he himself states ships of that tonnage aren't made to operate in atmosphere. And this wasn't changed in the re-print.

So keyes landed on reach, forgot, and then wondered if he could crash on halo

How exactly did it break the canon? I'm only two thirds through (don't mind spoilers). But Fall of Reach came before Halo Reach, and it was added too the Halo bible before Halo Reach, so if either of them have broken the canon wouldn't it it be Halo Reach?
