Subject: is this the right time?

Hello to all. i've seen a few "theory" threads trying to work out HALO 4's storyline and what the dark new threat could be and im surprised to find many people think it's the forerunners. but i dont really get why?

1)why have the forerunner "sacrifice" everthing and make humanity the inheritors of the mantle and there technology if there not all on the great journey by which i know could mean there all dead/ascended as the covie's belived. moving to a more literal sense of them actually leaving the galaxy due to there crmie's/guilt against the mantle.

2)even in the newest book they dont like war and belive its a crime so why would they automatically attack you?

3)if they are indeed forerunner then WTF have they been up to for the last 100,000 years sitting inside there (death star)shield world?. seriously they missed the entire human/covenant war the release of the flood and god knoes what else inbetween.

the only answer that to me that could make any sense is if they are forerunner is if in that time they've become nomads and basically have no care for the outside galaxy when you ride in on your ship upsetting things.

not that forerunners wouldn't be a cool story line its just that why give everything your race created to another race then a "few" years later come back to destroy your inheritors.

thsnks for your reply and good points not sure about 3 though im pretty sure by the last book more will be shed on the whole forerunner/precursor thing which to a forerunner at least means its not a new threat plus the forerunner where around for a hell of along time so you'd think they'd know something about this ancient evil. just seems a waste of a deep and somewhat mystery filled back story for 343i to turn round and basically say "Guess waht! the ancient evil are forerunner's who've turned to the darkside" despite them being already stated as long dead or having left our galaxy. it could be they've just returned from outside the gaxay in which case MC has terrible timing

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

The Forerunners no longer exist in the Galaxy. Whether they left or died is irrelevant. Anyone who thinks they're coming back to kill Humans, is probably unaware of Cryptum.

Most likely, the enemies will be Flood or Sentinels. Probably both. Since almost every Halo game has sent the player from his original destination, I'd imagine they'll continue the trend and send the player elsewhere.

Which will probably lead to fighting the Flood. Most people speculate about fighting the Forerunners because the Covenant's species are either dead or on our side now, so they're not very creative about new enemies.

Also, Frankie confirmed that Sphere isn't a Shield World.
