I decided to start this topic shortly (and strangely) after finishing the entire Call of Duty series. I have played through every Bungie made Halo (Halo wars not included) and have seen that Bungie has made something very special , because over the 5 or 6 years that I've been a dedicated First Person Shooter fan, I've never really gotten the same sensation playing any other game then Halo . Its game play is phenomenal , graphics are above average (although a bit to be desired) and it's story is (in my opinion) the best of any Shooter Series. All these qualities make a large part of Halo , but I think that a major contributor in making the Halo universe atmospheric and vibrant is definitely the soundtrack . From the epic soundtrack that plays vividly in large scale battles , to the empty , almost saddening music of Halo 3: ODST. I would like to see if you (the community) sides with me on this or if they feel any other Shooter is worthy of "Best soundtrack in genre" . This being a bungie.net forums , I can only but anticipate that there will be bias , but I'm urging you to give an honest opinion on any First Person Shooter game of your choice

I agree with you completely, halo for me over the years(I'm sixteen now and started to play halo since I was 7) has always given me a certain vibe from the beginning. I always needed more of the universe and I eventually became a huge fan of the series. I mean I bought halo 3 before having a 360. Soon after that I eventually read the books and went deeper into the massive and expanding universe that is halo, the music, comics, books, games and even the animes(I hate anime lol). I see myself following This masterpiece of a very very long time and I am very excited how it progresses in the following years. I hope to see it getting to the point where its everywhere and isn't just lost after twenty years because the potential is definitely limitless.all I have is the up most respect for halo, bungie, and 343 studios.

I appreciate your love for the entire Halo 'universe', I myself have found myself sometimes lost in the vast amount of information whether it be the books, comics or games. I'm pretty confident that 343 Industries will not run down the Halo name , and that Bungie has left the franchise to a willing able-bodied task force . I expect that both Halo Combat Evolved:Anniversary and Halo 4 will feature a full-fledged soundtrack that we'll love.

Glad someone on these forums can be intellectual lol :D and once again I completely agree and I also believe that 343 will do a great job of keeping the overall 'halo feel' and who knows, maybe they'll interpret a better halo feel if that's even possible lol.Glad to see a fellow halo fan that can see it the way I do.

Stop being a lazy ass and stop trolling through the forums, play video games!

Yea, Halo has something Call of Duty doesn't have. Marty, well, I mean wonderful music. A third of Halo is game play, the other is story line, and the third, possibly the best, is the music.

Totally agree with you. I'm wondering how CEA and halo 4 is going to sound without Marty.

I wouldn't put all my faith into this just yet.

Listen to the soundtrack for Halo CEA that's been shown so far. 343i messed up in a lot of areas. They tried remaking it by ear. They wouldn't even ask Marty for copies of the original music sheets, even though he recently eBay'd the original Halo 3 sheet music. Now come on, does that not even show the slightest indication that the soundtrack for Halo from now on will be sub-par?

I can't imagine that Marty wouldn't want to work with them to make it better, but 343i has already targeted a completely different composer for the new trilogy so it's too late now, I suppose.

The Halo music was the thing that defined the franchise, being the most consistently kick-ass part of the games, but without that, I have little hope for the rest of the series.

Definitely. Much better then hearing profanities over the soundtrack when my bro plays BO.

What you're saying is partly true , however I'll only be able to comment with a fully backed opinion on release day ( I've already pre-ordered the game) . I have watched the videos on youtube showing game play and the music does sound a little bit off from its usual performance . I think 343 Industries might get a bit too creative when it comes to this , as they might try and create their own musical flair and characteristics to differ from the 'Bungie-feel' of the game . However I will still be fully committed to the franchise's new creators until I've seen what they've done on release day .

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

CEA will be the same soundtrack as CE, only done with a full orchestra this time instead of MIDI.

After watching some CEA gameplay the sound shouldn't disappoint.

See you on the battlefield.

I think we can all agree on the fact that even if Destiny completely sucks (that's a BIG if), it will still have awesome music thanks to Marty O'Donnel.

I'm pretty confident that 343 will make an amazing orchestral game after watching the latest news and videos of Halo Combat Evolved:Anniversary.
