If you don't like how I drive, then stay off the sidewalk!

I know it isn't too likely that a Bungie dev will notice this, and even if someone does it is even less likely that they will have been someone who worked on Halo 1. Nevertheless I must try.
I've been experimenting with the feature in Sapien which allows you to take control of a biped as if it were your player (with HUD, FP arms, and even radar). I know this was also used to create recordings. I cannot seem to find out how you are able to take full control, however, such as assigning keys to movement.
I have tried the tool command "import-device-defaults" thinking it could be used for importing your profile for use in Sapien to test maps. It imported successfully yet I noticed no difference. I have used the console to load and activate my profile. I've used the console to enable player input and player camera control. Nothing has worked.
There are so many debugging tools such as the F# keys which can select AI encounters and such, and there are so many engine globals and functions which are only accessible in Sapien, I know there has to be a way to play the map in Sapien. If you could kindly point out what I'm missing, I'd be very grateful.
Sincerely,
The Cereal Killer
