The Halo games are quite a fascinating matter . They have an intricate web of connections , whether it be by dialogue , easter eggs , scenery that link up to the Halo books and comics . This creates quite an enormous feeling of depth in each game . If you play a Halo game after reading a Halo book , you will definitely get a more fulfilling experience then you would without the book . The amount of content and little trinkets of information is stored quite cleverly in the books . I was astounded that after buying my Halo 3 Limited Edition , I was able to find out so much about each Covenant and UNSC species and the qualities they possess . I found that most games had you always playing as the protagonists of the Universe , but I'm sure that you'll agree that after playing Halo 2 , you'll see a large portion of the Covenant's perspective . Once you delve deeper into the Halo books the story broadens exponentially and eventually it will take quite a few play throughs and reads to fully grasp each plot line and detail. Please share your feelings and ideas on this matter

*cough* Star Wars is an equal match in terms of depth *cough*

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Are you joking? The Haloverse is quite underdeveloped in terms of sci-fi universes.

but has high potential

Yeah... Star Wars has what? 30 or so years compared to Halos 10. To be honest it's pretty confined. However that's really why I love it so much. Anyone can easily learn the basics of it in an afternoon. With Star Wars it's much harder to get into since there is a mind-boggling amount of info stretched over a large amount of time. Countless books, comics, games, the movies, ect.

Excited for the future of the Haloverse though. We are entering the third act of the play. First was the Forerunners, then the H-C war, now something new will take place.

I wouldn't say unmatched, but it definitely has quite a deep universe.

I wouldn't say unmatched, but it definitely has quite a deep universe.
. I was wrong to use the word 'unmatched' . I realise that star wars has more depth but the fact is you can't play it as a First Person Shooter , I should have clearly stated in my original post , I apologize for my mistake .

Republic Commando and the Battlefront series, c'mon, don't be woefully ignorant.

Just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know...except Bungie.

Does Republic Commando ring a bell? Shadows of the Empire? Battlefront?

Fairly sure Star Wars has games in nearly every genre of video gaming...

What you say is partially true , however I feel that while the Star Wars Universe provides an amazing amount of depth , it falls short when it comes to the excitement and intrigue of content (in my opinion ) . This whole thread is based entirely on opinions so there is no way to exactly say which is deeper . I respect your opinion as you should mine .

What? You gotta be joking me...

Remember about Republic Commando? What about Battlefront series? Or even KOTOR games?

And Halo universe had great potential to be great like Star Wars.

If people would get of the the devotion to halo and just accept the fact and logically understand that something that has been around for 30 is going to be far more massive than something that has been around for 10 years game wise.

Um, no. I don't think I will respect your opinion since you don't back it up. Saying "It's my opinion" only goes so far. Do explain why Star Wars can't come up with good content because that is just not true.

We should know better, because we are better.

I think Halo has a very in depth universe. But if it keeps focusing on MC and the people around him they will back themselves into a corner story-wise. There is only so much you can do with the HC war.

Seconded.
To illustrate: Marathon vs. Halo
Halo isn't anything special; just generic humans fighting aliens science-fiction. There is nothing subtle or overly intelligent about the game's universe. The potential is there, sure, but it's being used in the same way a tree has the potential to be beautiful but instead gets milled into single-ply toilet paper.

Actually, guys, it's not just Halo.

Everything that Bungie has made is connected in some way, so that can expand a lot more than 20 years.

It truly isn't just the Halo Universe, it is, well, the Bungie Universe.

The Halo Universe is centered around Marathon, look at it. Also, use grammar if you want to actually try to challenge me, I know more than the average monkey in the Halo Universe

Only, Bungie has OUTRIGHT stated Marathon and Halo are not connected in any way, shape, or form canonically.

Edit: Using grammer to disprove an opponents argument. Wow.
