can we also except the fact that the star wars universe has had more than 40 years to develop?

Halo's has had 10. Lets think through this before we compare the two

Star Wars has more games, even if they are not as good, and(at least) 10x the amount of books(which are as good as halo ones. But I do think the haloverse has lots of potential.

yes, and restating what I had said earlier...

can we also accept the fact that the star wars universe has had more than 40 years to develop?

Mass Effect has the best Universe imo.

Mass Effect has the best Universe imo.

Again it has potential but... if Halo is a baby than Mass Effect would be a fetus

Everyone define deep.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

What about Fallout, Fallout has over 300 years of back to back events and information. Halo has about the same. Then there's Mass Effect which has about 1000 years of events. Or even Half-Life allot can happen in only seven hours.

I don't think that depth of backstory has as much to do with a series being deep. I think it's more about immersion and getting caught up in the story so that you actually care about what happens on more than just an intellectual level.

Speaking of which, is probably why I didn't give a crap about Reach's outcome. Although I did get pissed over Jorge. He was the only member of NOBLE who seemed like he gave a crap.

It's not camping, it's holding the designated location.

Yeah... Star Wars has what? 30 or so years compared to Halos 10. To be honest it's pretty confined. However that's really why I love it so much. Anyone can easily learn the basics of it in an afternoon. With Star Wars it's much harder to get into since there is a mind-boggling amount of info stretched over a large amount of time. Countless books, comics, games, the movies, ect.

Excited for the future of the Haloverse though. We are entering the third act of the play. First was the Forerunners, then the H-C war, now something new will take place.
4th actually you forgot Percursors.

Agreed, I like the Haloverse because it doesn't have too many offshoots. That's kinda why I'm not the biggest fan of The Halo Evolution series. They're great stories, but i feel like [some of the stories] take away from the main story arc. I love the Haloverse because although it is deep, it's still easy to follow.

Thats what I mean. It has the most potential to expand. More so than the Star Wars Universe

"Halo, it's divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path of salvation!"

When I take a deep breath of cold fresh air, I think...
Jeez it's -blam!- cold.

The are other things that are just as in depth if not more, like Star Wars, Mass effect, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout.

Super Halo Fan & Graphics Designer.

Most people who think of Sci-Fi, Star Wars is the first thing that comes to mind.... In the future the first thing you'll think of is HALO =D

I wouldn't say unmatched, but it definitely has quite a deep universe.
. I was wrong to use the word 'unmatched' . I realise that star wars has more depth but the fact is you can't play it as a First Person Shooter , I should have clearly stated in my original post , I apologize for my mistake .

Does Republic Commando ring a bell? Shadows of the Empire? Battlefront?

It's not a "SciFi" shooter, but lets not forget The Elder Scrolls series.

Very deep, very intricate. =)

Flood's and Universe's Warhammer 40k fanatic and the one who knows much about it.

I also like House Stark and winter, hurr.

40k has so much more fluff, better fluff and more interesting fluff behind it.

Halo doesn't even come close to best ones, even if it is good scifi.

Maybe if they'd start to create good amount of books, like Black libary does these days. But as long as Halo doesn't do that, it's depth and detail stays quite much the same it has been and is.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

I completely agree. Some of my favorite characters come strait from the game. The great thing about it is the fact that it uses a whole galaxy. Everything is happening everywhere, all at once.

Even though it was made in 1987, the various iterations means that there have been numerous retcons and modification.

Rip Ollanius Pius; the bravest character in fiction.

Most people don't understand that it has only been around for 10 years . There are a new set of books that will be released as well as the new Halo trilogy , giving it a huge amount of potential .

Potential yes.

However saying it beats 40k, Star Trek(including the non-canon books), and Star Wars and such for depth of content is foolish.

Those universes have been around longer, of course they'll have more.
