You guys are all forgetting one thing, Frankie said that the terminal in Halo: CE anniversary will provide some insight into events before/leading up to halo 4.
I would have to say that there will be a UNSC presence in halo 4:
John 117 - Master petty officer.
Cortana
Forward unto dawn - Is a ship, so technically count's as UNSC.
Possibly the group that comprised of Halsey and the Spartans in the onyx shield world.
Also a covenant influence would probably be plasma based weapons, which we know as to be down-graded/less efficiant versions of forerunner weaponry.
You are also forgetting Glasslands, which will bridge the gap between 3 and 4, The cryptum sequel And The ghosts of onyx sequel, which will conclude the story of the group that entered the shield world on story, these are all cannon, and they may or may not apply to halo 4 and on.
Thats my 2 cents
I highly doubt that it will be UNSC presence in the Halo 4... same for Covenant. Remember, Frankie said that we don't need to play last trilogy to understand the story and also said no purple in halo 4 which it means that no covenant, also no unsc. Most likely enemies will be: Forerunners, Sentinels, rogue A.I, Flood or Precursors. As seeing that ancient enemy is, would be Precursor.
Glasslands will have some ties with Halo 4 but not large affecting factor for the Halo 4.
Also, terminals at Halo: CEA will only describes the history and also, hint something about Halo 4, not directly describing about Halo 4.
So? FuD is UNSC ship, it does not make that there is UNSC personnel in the ship... I don't know what you are getting at.
FuD is a UNSC ship, even though it is now a wreckage, it technically still is a UNSC presence because it was made by the UNSC, master chief is on it and Cortana which are in a sense a UNSC presence, When did I say that the Covenant would be a enemy in Halo 4 and on, I said that their weapons are downgraded versions of forerunner/precursor technology, you are right about the terminals in CEA, though they still hint something about Halo 4.
Not so sure about the enemy's though, it says ancient threat, that does not imply that it will be enemy's of a robotic structure, but your theory is plausible.
