Should Halo 2 PC/MAC be released on the MAC's that do not have intel chips? At the cost of less graphics for the owners who do? Please if you own a MAC contribute to the poll. Thank You.

Intel Macs are Macs. There is more to the machine architecture than the processor chip. Windows programs will not run on Intel Macs out of the box. It's my understanding that for the forseeable future, Mac programs will be written to work on either chip.

As I understand, HAVOK has been written for Mac, but they want more than most Mac game companies are able to pay to license it.

That was a very nerdy responce man! But does anyone actually know if it is coming out on MAC? I am not happy with the new intel chips though. With the universal option opening MAC up to virus etc.

Maybe a new forum should be made for H2 PC, because this place is getting alot H2PC related threads. Nothing has been said about Mac yet so for now it's only going to be PC.

I heard that Halo 2 for Vista will need a 64 bit processor. The new intel chips are 32 but are still 2-3x faster than the 64 bit PowerPC G5 so I don't know what Macsoft would do about that, make a non-64 bit version for the new intel chips? The new intel chip computers also have much better graphics cards than the previous macs. If Macsoft does come out with Halo 2 I will surely buy it, even if my hardware's outdated!

In a previous thread someone said the Havok physics engine wasn't portable to Mac OSX at all, and since it's a vital part of Halo 2, there's no possibility of a Mac version coming.

It's definitely portable, but if someone would like to port it, they'd need to pay Havok a lot of money. Which isn't much fun for shoestring operation Mac developers.

1. See above. In all likelihood, the answer is a big fat resounding "NO". The chance that Halo 2 will ever be released for any Mac in any form is vanishingly small.

2. It's "Mac". I swear, every time I read "MAC" as a description of a Macintosh computer (and not, say, a Magnetically Accelerated Cannon in Halo), my chances of not having an aneurysm in the next five minutes drop to worrying levels.

Though Halo Combat Evolved came out on MAC so why not Halo 2 as the graphics etc improve as Halo 2 is better than Halo so are the computers? Quick question was Halo relase on PC & MAC at the same time.

MAC doesn't stand for anything therefore it should be Mac, Macintosh, OS X, Macintosh OS X, or to be extemely specific, Macintosh OS X Tiger. In othe words, MAC is really starting to bother me.

read my sig.

and stop capitalizing MAC. when you capitalize you imply that each letter stands for something. its just Mac. not MAC. and if you mean MAC the way you say it, then its like youre yelling MAC. its not that FUNNY when you YELL randomLY!

It's not the chip that opens you up to viruses, it's the Windows operating system, which the Intel Macs will not be shipping with.

AMD chip PCs are just as vulnerable as Intel PCs because it's not the processor chip, but Windows that leaves the door open to viruses. Or rather, that's the OS the virus writers aim at attacking.

Hopefully it will be ported to the Macintosh, it's highly unlikely but if it doesn't, then I'm sure there will be plenty of people online who can't afford to upgrade to Vista, giving us Macintosh users some time before Vista becomes the standard.
