This may seem like a simple question, but I'm not sure.

As a point of reference, the Fall of Reach says that John 117 is approximately 6'10" tall without his armor, and additional five inches or so with his armor on.

I'm ASSUMING that the average Sangheili and John are the same height. I don't recall in the books there ever being a time where an Elite towered over John.

But then what about Brutes? Halo Nation has them at 9' tall, but that's hardly reliable, and I don't recall that from any fiction.

Obviously gameplay doesn't solve this. I'm talking from a canonical perspective, not how tall they were in each game.

Stop being a lazy ass and stop trolling through the forums, play video games!

I think they were like 7'-8' tall. I know M'galekgolo are like 10' standing.

It was to my knowledge that the Mgalekgolo were about 12' tall. It could be that Sangheili are 7-8.5 ft tall whereas Brutes are around 8.5-9 ft tall.

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

I believe the calculated Sangheili height was 8 ft 6 according to the Bestarium.

As for Jiralhanae(Brutes), 8 ft 5 to 9 ft easy, Halo Encyclopedia...depending if you trust it, oh and estimates using a side by side view of an upright john and a fully upright brute.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

Sangheili are either 7'4" according to the Encyclopedia, or 8'6" according to the CE manual (although this data is falsely attributed to the Bestiarum on Halopedian).

Hunters are roughly 12' tall.
EDIT: Derp got confused by the post above, Jiralhanae are 9'2" according to the Bestiarum.

Elites canonically and according to other sources are about 8'6.

Brutes are known for being bigger than Elites so a safe bet would be at around 9'2.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

CE manual had Elites at 8'6.
Encyclopaedia says 7'4
Bestiarium says 7'2
The Essential Visual Guide gives a height range of 7'4 - 8'6.

Brutes are 8'5 according to the Encyclopaedia and 9'2 according to the Bestiarium. No idea what the Visual Guide says.

You would think that something as simple as this would be easy to keep straight, but alas...

Signatures are for squares.

From what I remember, it's stated:
Elites are an average of 8'6 when their backs are erect.
Elites are an average of 7'4 when they're hunched over(Like in Halo 2/3.)

Incorrect, that prestigious title is held by Xytan 'Jar Wattinree, whose final height escapes me, although he was past 9 ft. Even Sesa Refumee at 8 ft 6 was much taller.

False, a very impressive Elite Imperial Admiral, Xytan 'Jar Wattinree, known to never have lost a battle, stood at 11'6.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

On average it seems that Spartans are 7 feet, Elites are 8 feet and Brutes are 9 feet tall.
