Halo , a First Person Shooter series that has won the hearts of millions of faithful fans around the world for it's wide open battlefields , fun game play and epic sound track . I used the franchise as a whole for the above description . Halo 3:ODST is not quite like the rest of the others . There's something that sets it apart from the rest of the games in the franchise.
One thing in particular that makes it very different is that is almost an open world game when you're in Mombasa Streets , and then quickly changes to the more linear storyline's in between . The other Halo games had amazing set plays , but the missions were always linear , and sometimes a bit too repetitive in terms of scenery . Halo 3:ODST changes this approach quite a bit .
Another thing it changes is the fact that you're not playing as a large hulk of armor and muscle , you're not playing as Spartans , or Master Chief in particular . Although it's a bit awkward having lower jump heights and less shields (as well as the fact you have to watch for health) , you eventually get the feeling that there can be quite a different approach that should be taken in fire fights , as you seem a bit more human .
Bungie has been known for it's soundtrack almost since its inception , and ODST doesn't disappoint . In fact , I feel that it is one of the main things that separates the game from the rest of the Halo's . Instead of always having that epic music playing in all the other Halo's (because gunfights are constant and ever flowing ) , you know have the atmospheric feeling of helplessness and being alone . This again makes you think of your human character .
The overall story has little to do with what is going on in Master Chief's world , instead it focuses on the perspectives of the other soldiers in the war fighting in what they believe in . All in all , it's very well written and intriguing.
The weapons are the same from Halo 3, and the species you fight against it as well . The matchmaking is Halo 3's matchmaking , you can hardly have any complaints about that , as Halo 3's matchmaking is fun and competitive with lots of variety and flavor .
This thread is not a review of the game , instead it is encouragement for you (the community) to voice your opinions and thoughts on what makes Halo 3: ODST a bit different from the others , and whether or not you enjoy the changes made . I would also like you to post ways on which it could be improved and made 'more fun' . Also , do you think Halo 4 should have a similar expansion that Halo 3 offered ?
