Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

Look to the top of the page.
Not that it'd be simple, but all Cortana had to do was...
Remove the Human DNA sequence and all other sequences...
EXCEPT for the Covenant sequences. And Blam. Done.
Activate Halo and we win!

Actually we could still have a Halo 2.
That Forunner structure at the center of High Charity could have had an Anti-Halo shield.
A mini ark.

So, really, all the Covanant races get there homeworlds annihilated of there kind.
But the COVENANT, in High Charity could still be very much alive.

Now thats a reason for Covenant Vengeance. I never really thought us destroying "the sacred ring" was such a big deal. I'm sure it was, but it seemed so insignificant to me.

Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

DNA sequences? what are you talking about. the halo rings kill anything that is viable food for the flood, where did it say anything about DNA sequences?

I still think we could have a Halo 2 due to the fact that the Covenant would want revenge. Believe me, those guys are dumb on ground but make up by their tenacity in maunouvering ships.

Yeah. Are you high or something? How can you remove DNA sequences from Halo? I don't think Bungie would have thuoght of doing that. Halo Doesn't even have DNA in it. It just destroys every planet, every liform in the universe.

n. Library
1. A repository of information
2. A collection of cloned DNA sequences whose location and identity can be established by mapping the genome of a particular organism.

The labrary contains DNA sequences of all organisms that can be fed off of. The index is used to select all the organisms for halo to destroy. So yea cortana may have been able to do that, but Cortana needs to change the index which may be impossible for an AI. So it wouldnt work anyway.

Halo 3: Collapse
Chapter 20, Revelations, is up (update 11-14-10)
The Mirratord

Ω

If Halo was fired and wiped out +90% of the Covenant, don't you think they would realize there is no Great Journey? They'd be too busy rebuilding their infrastructure and executing the Prophets for bringing about their near-extinction to bother attacking Earth, not to mention they wouldn't have the military strength to do so anymore. One well-placed nuke or NOVA could easily destroy High Charity, it's too big of a target.

I'm sure the prophets could easily say that the "demons" tainted Halo's devine wind.
Also it'd make an excuse for there to be heretics.

Also, the Covenant homeworlds are not destroyed, just the populations of each race.
High Charity is where the actual "Covenant" are. So they'd still be at full strength spare the fleet on Halo when it blew.

If it was as simple as breaking into Halo's code and changing it, Cortana would have done it. That's what she's built for. Halo is some unknown energy weapon, who knows how it works, we just know what it does.

Cortana may not have been able to, she may knew how, but it may not be something she is capable off. In such short notice she may not be able to get whatever she needs before flood leave the ring to reprogram. And it isn't halo she is breaking into, its the index. Even so, is the index like a writable/non-rewritable disk where it isn't meant to be tampered.

I'm sure the MC wouldn't have known how to '' take out the DNA of the human race'' at the time.

I think the only reason it didn't happen is because it would have been stupid to go to the Control Center a third time.

DNA sequences make us human, you should know that. Also, the index (and library) contains DNA seqs and it uses those in the index to know which things to kill. Only problem is how do you reprogram the index? Would it be too hard and takes a long time? If it would take 5 hours to do for example, the flood on the map Keyes would have taken the ship off to infect the galaxy, which is bad. So I think Cortana wasn't being stupid on this one.

Maybe it didnt happen because...ITS A FREAKING VIDEO GAME. Bungie wants sequels, we want sequels, Bungie wants money, we wanna give them our money. Simple as that.

We still could have had a sequel.

The reason this topic is worthy of discussion is because we SHOULD question these flaws. Like in a crappy scary movie when the bad guy is approaching a victim and the victim is somehow too stupid to shoot the bad guy with the gun he/she is holding simply to keep the story going.... ANYWHO, my point is, rather than stray off with questions and comments unrelated to the topic, ponder the topic and contribute.

i hear a lot of talk about halo destroying planets. where is that written. halo isn't some destructive weapon. it doesn't obliterate worlds, it destoys all sentient life that can function as a host for the flood. other wise there would be no surrounding planets, since the forerunners have already fired halo once.
